I have a 2002 LX470; it is almost 100% on road vehicle for me (DD). I have had GY Duratrac's on 2 other 80's(35's and 285's) I've had Toyo Open Country AT's on a ram quad cab I had and the Nitto Terra Grappler have long been a good pick on here.

My question is what tire would be best for #1 resale as well as #2 my personal use? My truck is currently for sale in the classifieds. I won't link it here because it can be found easily and that's not what this is about.

I will likely do a very small lift (1") while keeping the AHC and all of its awesome benefits. No plan to add bumpers at this time.

GYDT are great it snow and have a good look to them, probably best for resale. The TOCAT and the NTG are probably the same tire in all reality. Is it worth the upcharge to go with the GYDT or would someone wanting to build a 100 go with GY Kevlar’s or other MT?

So personally what would you put on your stock DD 100 for yourself or if you were looking to purchase one???

No experience with Duratracs, but I do with Toyo MTs. They're an awesome tire for wheeling. Not too loud on the freeway.

Our LX is 95% on road and I don't take it in mud. I have Michelin LTX and they are great, quiet. If I was off road more, I'd go with an AT tire, I just can't justify the noise of an AT tire they way we use the truck. I sold tires when I was in the car biz and Michelin is king in almost ALL on road applications.

Definitely a personal opinion when it comes to tires... So depending on how much you're wanting to sell versus keep for awhile, the best plan could be to discount $1000 and let the buyer put on their tire of their choice.

That being said, I just made the same decision and my personal vote is for the Open Country AT II in the 295 "Xtreme" sizing(assuming 16" wheel). Slightly larger void and bigger lugs makes it a bit more aggressive than the NTG. Definitely less aggressive than the Duratrac with it's MT style side lugs, but for my onroad/offroad split it's the best tire for my purposes...

I'm about to pull the trigger on Toyo AT2 Xtreme 295/75/16s within the next 2 weeks. They have deeper tread, more aggressive sidewall and it's a 10 ply sidewall. Only certain sizes come in the Xtreme and I really want to get as close to a 34" tire as possible.
So you are talking 32.8 to a 33.4 with the XT's. Do you have a visual comparison between the normal and the xt's? The always, will they fit without rubbing question comes to mind too?

I've just dropped it again this week

I've had the LTX's on a couple 80's great tires, I'm looking for a little more lug this time. I currenlty have the Toyo Open Country HT's on it.

i'd go with something like the Toyo's/Nittos - aggressive enough on the tread pattern but sidewalls don't have "that look" which may narrow your list of potential buyers. (and this comes from a DT owner)

but seriously though...you're selling it, so why put on tires? let the new owner choose their tires.

DURATRACS ARE LOUD!! No getting around that. They get noiser with age too. That being said I don't think there's a better snow/mud A/T out there.

The noise is really bugging me now (50k miles in) and I have about 30-40% tread remaining, which is barely enough to last me through winter. They were mounted in March 2011.

I'm going with these next. I've heard really good things and I think they're better than BFG's, Toyos and Definitely better than Nittos.

x3 on loving my Duratracs. I don't find them loud, but then again they are no stock Michelin. The Toyo MTs on my pickup are about 300% louder than the DTs and those are considered some of the quietest MTs of all the brands. I am also at 50k miles on my DTs with around 40-50% tread left - they are wearing great!

I have had the Duratracs on my LC for one and half years and think they are great. I have put about 15K miles on them and there's plenty of great tread left. I rotate them, including the spare, every 5K miles. I don't think they are loud either. They have performed very well on and off road for me.

Where i live we go from - 40C to + 30C and everything in between. I also drove 8500kms from edmonton to San Diego and back. Including wheeling in mud one week, sand and finally red rocks in Moab. I love the duratracs, they did so well especially under heavy load with my rig packed to the roof.

If I were buying a LC right now, I would prefer one with worn tires. That way, I could choose myself what to get for my use and not get stuck with someone else's opinion. Same with other mods. Why now; why not let the next owner have the fun?

^^ this. Why not let the new owner choose unless you think it's going to take a while to sell it?

If so, then how about the Michelin LTX AT/2?

#2 on TireRack right now - superior or excellent in all categories, plus an 8.5 rating in "light snow" and a 8.1 in "deep snow".

Looks like a good DD and snow [STRIKE]tire[/STRIKE] capable all in one.

I vote for no more tire threads. Is that a choice in the poll? Just put some LTXs on it, check the type of foam on your skid plate, and sell the truck for more than you paid.

X4 on Duratracs. If you see the you will buy them. If road tire- Michelin Latitude Tour HPs. What is on my wife's lx470 mall cruiser.

I've also always had great experience with these tires, if you can afford them. I recommend you go to tirerack pick out your application and look at the results. You then will see which tires are best for your application and your priorities.
