If I were buying a LC right now, I would prefer one with worn tires. That way, I could choose myself what to get for my use and not get stuck with someone else's opinion. Same with other mods. Why now; why not let the next owner have the fun?
That is what I'm trying to do, I'll have another month before I would want to get tires for weather conditions and safety.

I want to keep the 80 for winter and build a rod of some sort for my dd. Maybe 2UZ or 1HD-T powered 4 door aluminium 40

I vote for no more tire threads. Is that a choice in the poll? Just put some LTXs on it, check the type of foam on your skid plate, and sell the truck for more than you paid.
Hey Pesci, need a snickers...

It's alright my ex-army roommate doesn't sleep much and hears everything, it's like having a personal security guard.

Well, there's your first problem. Get some Marine Corps friends and really feel safe. Then go buy whatever tires get the most votes on this poll. That will cure all your problems.

GF's brother is a Marine, does that count? lol Either way I'd trust him with my life, except he bought a pathfinder instead of a cruiser.

So just to clarify most of those on this board have off-road aspirations, and yes, comparatively speaking the DT's are very quiet compared to ANY mud tire - no contest. Not to mention the snow traction is unbelievable with these tires, they are simply unmatched from what I've seen - and they wear great. I will easily get through this winter with them (30-40% tread left after 50+k miles).

These are honestly probably the loudest AT you can buy. Just so you know that up front. They are way quieter than any MT, but they are significantly louder than BFG's, Nittos, Revos etc (i've owned all 3 types).

It doesn't usually bother me for daily driving, just after a long trip it starts getting annoying - and yes, you really can hear them :) The only reason I'm mentioning this is because we use our rig for long trips and if 95+% of your driving is onroad (long trips) and your offroad excursions are not worse than any forest service roads, you're better off getting a quieter tire. Offroad they are king :)

I'm going with the Cooper Discoverer AT/3's next. I will post updates often on wear etc as I'm not sure anyone here has them, and I guess I'll be the guinea pig :D

My 80 currently has DuraTrac's, I'm comfortable with their tire noise. The Cooper STT's that were on my last 80 were horrible and drove me insane. I would say the 470 has such good noise cancellation built in, (even better than my current 450) the slight increase for the DT would be minimal. I would think...

The 470 and my old LS400 were both very relaxing rides and good for decompressing after work. So tire noise should be kept in mind. I rarely drive father than 60 miles at any one time though.

Put the 33s from 80 onto 100. Buy 35s for 80 :)

Nothing yet, I dropped the price on the LX one last time before I do the lift, tires, and undercoat before winter. If I do all of that I will use her through the winter and in the spring be looking to trade for a hot rod. I am totally miffed why it isn't selling; it’s listed at trade in value and way under private party.
I'm leaning DurraTrac's though.
