Yup! Figured that out last night. Looks like I'll be tearing that side down again in order to get the ABS ring switched over. I'm hoping I don't need to pull the axle, but I'd almost guarantee that I will. By the end of all this, I'll be very proficient and tearing down and putting back together our hub assemblies. LOL!!!

Awesome. I'll be watching your progress to see if the Longs give you any snags while doing this. I really should do mine.

Just dropped my DS's off at Fleet Pride here in Tacoma. Getting U-Joints pressed in, having both shafts re-phased and balanced as well. Another chunk of change but trying to get everything knocked out and done right so that I don't have to worry about it for a while.

Not much got accomplished today. Got the ABS tone ring off of the old birf and tore down the hub and pulled the new axle. Nearly got the tone ring onto the new birf but just don't have the material here to make it happen. Gonna run it over to Fleet Pride in the morning and have them press it on real quick for me. This is turning into a bit of a marathon, but I don't mind. Really don't have much else going on anyhow. The idea is to get the passenger side all out back together, for good this time, and disassemble to driver side and start cleaning parts. Hoping to have everything back together by Saturday. Also, my DS's should be ready to pick up tomorrow.

Got some things done this morning. Found out that one of my DS's was out of phase pretty badly. It'll need to be cut and rewelded in order to get it re-phased and balanced properly. The good news is that they over quoted me originally on the price. So it'll all even out now with the extra welding that they need to do. Also took my Longfield in and had them press the ABS tone ring on for me. Only took them about 30 seconds and didn't charge me a dime. Thought that was pretty awesome. Time to get the passenger side buttoned back up, again, and start tear down of driver side. Waiting on the exterminator to show up and take care of these pesky sugar ants first. Then it's off to the garage.

BOOM!!! They look brand new. Price was a lot more generous than expected. Highly recommend these guys.

All buttoned up, once again. A little celebration beer.

Nice.

I forgot to drop off that paint for the hubs and your tie rod ends...

My kit from Kurt will be here Tuesday.

No worries. I can paint everything later on. Got the axle out of the driver side. Heading to Fleet Pride to have the ABS ring pressed onto the Longfield. Hoping to have everything done this afternoon or early tomorrow morning.

DONE!!! Both hubs are put back together. All I need to do now is reconnect my DS's, put the tires on, and take her for a test drive. Also, when we were Offroad, I borrowed one of the steering arm studs from the driver side for the passenger side because one had completely fallen out, I forgot to compensate for that when I ordered my parts. So, on the drivers side, I am missing, one bolt, washer, and cone washer. Will attempt to order these tomorrow through Kurt.

Everything is all out back together and ready for her first test drive. Of course my battery is dead, so I'm waiting for it to charge so I can get her started. LOL!!!

Test drive complete. Black Betty is back on the prowl.

Yeah man. It's definitely feels good getting it done. Also, feels good knowing I can do it.

Any vibes with the stock front prop shaft?

Lets go!

Took it out on the freeway to test it at speed and felt a little wobble. Brought it home and tightened up the wheel bearings which were loose on the PS. It's all nice and tight now. Ordered some parts from Kurt this morning that will finish the job completely. Just a few nuts and bolts.

Yeah, I had to do the same thing after my brake job. I was leery of over tightening the bearings so I went a bit too light I guess. I later read a post that advises whacking the hub with a rubber mallet several times once you think it's tight enough, then loosen it and snug it down once more. Guess there's a slight ridge that it hangs up on in there...

We had good results tightening it down while performing the "12 and 6" test.

I was basically rocking it back and forth while William tightened it until I no longer felt any play. The slight ridge thing makes sense, as once we did this it tightened up way more than it seemed it would.
