He built his own Megasquirt EFI system, so he can do whatever tuning he wants with it.

I have heard the same things about the Toyota ECUs though, little to no tunability / flashibility.

I may be wrong, but I think the stock ECU uses ROM, which is burned at the factory and cannot be written to ever again. I guess, if you were REALLY industrious, you could replace the ROM with EPROM and figure out a way to flash it. MegaSquirt is much newer technology and they are adding features all the time. It supports boost control, so some day I may add a turbo

Gave Henry's a visit today and got rid of the leaky 'ole Toyota "diamond" coupler and in with a nice v-band clamp. Maybe not surprisingly, the idle smoothed out a good bit. I showed up at around 3, and was out the door by 4.

Confirmed she holds 70mph up slight hill in 5th gear, approximately 2500RPM without issue. Pedal nowhere near the floor.
