After over 9 months of meticulously building this motor, Ramon had his first start and break-in last night!!! Had a hiccup at first where the dizzy was a tooth off when we thought it was right, but Ramon figured it out
CONGRATS Ramon! Now get on designing that Megasquirt system
Also thanks to Jon M. for loaning me the carb, MeatBall for letting my use the head from my old (now his) motor for initial breakin, Sean for use of the parts cleaner, John S for numerous calls and questions and pinging his peeps on things I knew little about. Thanks to Jerry for all the help and loaning of the carb, even though it was missing a few bits and I didn't bug you for them since I knew they were likely in a POD and impossible to locate (hence why I hit Jon M back up for his).
Now, it's off w/ the 2F head, on w/ the 3FE head and MegaSquirt bits. This is where it gets fun
Congrats guys!! It is always a great feeling when you bring a rebuild to life. I did the same 1 tooth off thing when I did thee front end of the 22RE IN MY 4RNR. It started but was sad. Same as you, I figured it out while playing with the timing and once moved it ran great.
Look forward to seeing it with a set of wheels under it.
Glad that the but I put in Jerry's ear about a 2FE 4 years ago finally came to fruition all be it with a different owner. Just seems like yesterday I was pulling that 3F head of the 80 in raeford.
Can't wait to see your videos of it on the trail Ramon.
Sucks i'll have to wait a while to see it in person.

I know you said you'll probably be going already Al, but assuming everything goes right I should have it at the barn in December. Maybe you can meet us at the Rubicon someday and wheel with Dozer once again!
LOTS of tuning to do. Trying first to figure out how the motor gets enough air thorough only the IAC valve with the throttle plate completely closed at idle. I have to leave the brake booster port open to get enough air in to keep it running.
I'll say this though, this is getting fun. Figuring out the signaling of the dizzy and how the ECU controls timing and fuel. It's pretty dope.

Well, getting closer. Not to brag, but for a tractor motor, she's a SCREAMER! This, mind you, is without any professional tuning. Sorry for the rattles, the GoPro was zip tied to the roll cage - mount was just ordered!
