Have had my 74 FJ for 2 or 3 months now and have gone over the ignition and starter system, fuel delivery etc and it just won't run right. Got a fresh fuel filter in, timing is a little off, but it runs better with the marker off the bead. Fresh vacuum hoses. distributor is good, plugs are good. running premium (92 octane), good oil. Still, it hesitates after acceleration, feels like it has a flat spot in the carburator (Weber), and idles high (had to turn it up to keep it going good. Saw a jet kit for weber carbs on a website for $70 and claims if I have these symptoms, it could fix it. Any feedback??

i agree with doghouse - it's not necessarily a carb problem.
Check compression. I spent weeks fiddling with carb and
ignition; eventually found out problem was a burnt valve.

Flat spot - Idles high..........Sounds like a vacuum leak to me !
