Weather has been great. Finally cooled down. been out working on it every day.
Progress is being made. I've been making lots of brackets. Radiator and intercooler are mounted, air cleaner is has been modified. The inlet snorkle from an FZJ80 got used. Got started on the exhaust today.

Radiator outlet had to be moved. In its original location it was pointed right against the steering pump.

Engine will come back out, final mount welding will be done and engine compartment will be prepped and painted.

I'll take more pics on reassembly.

Your getting good at these, a couple of weeks start to finish is great! With each one completed, it is making it easier for next guy to do this swap.

I had the same radiator outlet issue and moved mine the same way.

Keep going, we want to hear it run!

A few years ago the engine compartment was sporting new paint and looked like this:

Now it looks kinda rough and showing rust in the radiator support and inner fenders.

Diesel conversion got temporarily sidetracked.
Now's as good time as any to rectify all that's wrong, make rust repairs and paint the engine compartment green to match the body

All paint work is complete. The engine will be going back in and the conversion will be getting into high gear.
Hopefully I'll have some more interesting pics to post pretty soon.

The engine is back in. Currently in the process of wiring and plumbing.

I had purchased all the 3" mandrel bends to make a complete 3" exh system. Due to the Isuzu's exh out angle, I couldn't figure a way to cleanly run 3" either in front of the starter or behind it. Too late in the game to change to another turbo with a straight down drop.
So it's 2 1/2" till it clears the frame rail, 3" the rest of the way.

Here's a place that sell mandrel bends for a reasonable price. Just have to wait two or three weeks. Cheapest I've found

Finally there's respectable oil pan clearance now.

Intercooler installed. The radiator support had to be modified a little. Originally was going to use a thinner aftermarket intercooler. They looked kind of cheesy, so ended up installing the NPR intercooler.

Intercooler tubing had to go under the battery trays.

It's now running AND driving

I had planned on having everything completed and then jumping in and start driving it without issues. Well, it doesn't always workout that way. But not complaining.
There's an oil leak from the tach drive on the engine. I don't quite know what I'm going to do about that. The seal just can't contain the oil pressure. I epoxied the feed hole up and drilled it out with the smallest drill bit sold (or I could find). I'm sure the results wouldn't be good on the bushing area if the oil supply was blocked off all together.

Max boost is 5 PSI. I'll have to make the waste gate rod adjustable.

The engine runs smooth and has great power, even with the low boost.
It is amazingly quiet. The quietest NPR engine I've ever heard. The timing is where it's supposed to be and not retarded.

There's one more A/C hose I need to make, and a couple of issues to sort out. Hopefully in another week everything will be resolved.

Looks great!

The inter cooler mounting is very clean and I really like the green.

Where did you get the rubber intake hose from air filter to intake? That looks like a nice part.
