Might be a dumb question but I wanted to clarify unlocking and locking doors on my new to me 2000 LC.
I bought my LC a last week did some basics (oil/filter change, air filter change, wipers, hood struts, etc.) and getting baselining done over the next several weeks. I only received one key from the previous owner and it does not have a keyless entry on fob.

My question is does the manual key only unlock the LC from the drivers door? The drivers door also doesn't lock from the exterior, I have to unlock it with the interior lock/unlock switch. I've tried to unlock it from any other door it will only lock the vehicle. Is this the case with LC100s? I couldn't find information on whether this is the way they unlock/lock?
Additionally, when I look up the VIN on Toyota's VIN look up tool it says it came with keyless entry. Does that mean if I get the correct key fob with unlock and lock functionality that once programmed, it should be able to have keyless entry?

Something that I noticed that might be tied to this issue is the the driver and passenger side doors seem to have weak actuators, after a few clicks of the unlock and lock it doesn't seem to have enough power to move the lock knob. Is this tied to not being able to unlock from the passenger door and lock from the driver door?

Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks!

I cant speak to the other questions you have but your door lock actuators need to be replaced. This thread can help you track the part numbers and fix the issue.

And Welcome to the forum.

If you have the owner's manual for the truck, I'd suggest spending an evening reading it since the truck is new to you. The locking features are covered in there.

And yes, with a key that has the buttons, you can lock and unlock the doors. You'll want to check if the single key you have is a master key or not, that will determine if you can program other keys or you'll need external help like Techstream or a locksmith.

I figured that would be the case. I'm looking at replacing them all. Thanks!

The land cruiser didn't come with a manual but I got a hold of one online so I'll be looking through it. Is there a way to tell if I have the master? I only have one key for it. Thanks for attaching the image, that was helpful!

My understanding is that if it's a master, when you insert the key in the ignition the red security light will turn off immediately. If it's a valet, it will take a second or two to turn off.
