Back in October of last year (2023), I ordered a set of custom headlights for my 80 Series. A previous owner had installed aftermarket buckets, etc.: 1) they were awful on low beam, and 2) you couldn't install a set of, say, PIAA bulbs in the buckets.
I went online and found an outfit in Wisconsin called Freedom Outfitters, who claimed they could build a super-high quality set of lamps for the LC. Perhaps some of you have dealt with them.
After sending them $1,400 (full price up front), they said the lights should be ready by March of this year.
March came and went; no lights. I got a vague email in April stating they were having some "design issues," and that the lights would be delayed.
In the middle of April, I emailed them and asked when the lights would be ready to ship. A few weeks later, they replied, saying that the set was almost complete. About a week later, another email: the headlights have shipped!
Except that they hadn't. I finally talked to the "designer" today, who admitted that he had lied, and that there were still issues with the lights. That was it; I told him to return the money and put his lights... where the sun doesn't shine.
Would caution anyone who is looking for aftermarket LC headlamps to avoid Freedom Outfitters.
