I had replaced the air pump whe I desmogged years ago with an idler pulley, can't recall where I bought it. Anyway I was getting some squealing so I checked belts, and they were all loose, especially the air pump belt - but I ran into an issue - tension bracket (?) is bent and it won't tighten much. Here's a couple pics:

What's this part called, and is it available? TIA

That is the lower bracket which attaches to the engine block. I would remove yours and straighten it out, and reinstall. That upper bracket is not meant to tension the belt. It is simply there as a fail safe if the hardware comes loose for the idler.

Ah. I can do that. SO the idler pulley with spring sets belt tension? But why is there an adjustment here, and how do I set it? I guess I need to find and read my manuals - it's been so long since I had to do anything - the truck has been rock solid for the last couple years. Guess I took it for granted. Only had to buy a new battery.

^^ This.

Someone noted a nut was missing so I'm going to take it apart, straighten that bracket. Still not clear on how to set it after reinstallation if it's not used to set tension..
The nut that was missing in the photo in the other thread was the nut on the long bolt that passes through the lower mount for the idler.

The idler has a bolt that passes through the upper bracket. Pull outward on the idler and tighten it in place. Then position the long bolt with “nut” to act as a fail safe if the upper idler bolt comes loose.
