Hi there everyone, forum noobie here and relatively new 2016 Land Cruiser owner (I also have a stock 100 series that I love like a child). The 2016 200-series is heavily modified and purchased from a close friends. Mods relevant to this post are the ARB fridge with secondary battery and charge controller, ARB air compressor and the winch (will look up manufacturer if deemed relevant by the smart people on this thread).
I need to find a reliable automotive electrician (ideally also an LC specialist) I can trust to find and fix a 0.11 amp draw on the main battery - it's killed the battery twice in the past 2 months. I took it to the shop that installed the aftermarket equipment and they believe they isolated the draw to the fuse controlling the instrument cluster and anti-theft system, but as an off-road shop said further testing or replacement the instrument cluster was beyond their expertise. They recommended going to a Toyota dealer.
I did that yesterday, dropped off the vehicle. By lunch time they said "this is too heavily modified, we can't help you." I escalated to a manager and got the same result - my read is that their techs are trained to plug into the onboard computer to tell them what's wrong, so doing actual electrical diagnosis is outside of their training.
I know electrical gremlins are hard. I also found this thread with some recommendations for great LC mechanics (Favorite Mechanic for Land Cruiser in Dallas, Tx - https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/favorite-mechanic-for-land-cruiser-in-dallas-tx.1218273/), so wondering if anyone has experience with these guys handling after market electrical, or anyone specific you would recommend? I would very much appreciate any guidance as I really want to put this to bed and get my baby back to the condition I can trust her again.
Happy to answer any questions about the issue if that helps guide to the right person to take her to. Thanks everyone!
