Is this welder worth the price?

im thinking i should go with 220

Ya, but add in the ~$211 for the spool gun, plus whatever the tank is worth, it looks like a pretty good deal to me. Assuming you want the spool gun.

Make sure the Lincoln is not a "HD" model (Home Depot). Cheaper guts.

Right-o! I saw the "without Spoolgun and gas" and misread the ad! So $500 assuming its in good condition is probably a pretty good deal assuming you need a spoolgun.

If you have 220V where you'll be using the welder its a big plus especially for welding thicker material. OTOH its easy to get carried away buying "more" welder...

Make sure the seller owns the Argon tank and is not trying to sell a leased tank.

well, he sold the miller, and the Lincoln is a
Home Depot Model...
should I bite on the depot model?

My advice would be to figure out exactly what you want in a welder, and then wait for a good deal to come up using a site like searchtempest.com (to search multiple craigslists by distance). With a welder shipping can be an issue, both as a hassle for the seller and the cost of shipping can make or break a deal. I used this site, however, and scored a Miller Passport welder in great condition, with a free helmet, for $550 (the welder itself usually goes for $1500+) within a couple of weeks.

I would NOT buy the Depot Model. They are watered down models with plastic/inferior parts. Even an honest Lincoln rep will tell you that.

They do it with their dewalt products too, we go and compare them and they have plastic parts where ours have steel....

I am a beginner welder ( stick and mig) I use a big Cannox 400 amp stick for stuff at chipper mill.

I do have a Lincoln 140 t that I have ran about 34 ( 2 pounder ) roles of .035. It is not as good as the 140 C model , But for the price of the Lincoln 140C , I was able to get a spool gun and 20 lber argon tank and a 80 lber tank ( both new).
I have had a good experience with the Lincoln 140 t ( so far) it bounces around in the back of the willys MBT on the trail and works when I want it too.

If I didnt have the big Cannox , I would have picked up a 220v Miller.

Question ? Can I convert my tapped control lincoln 140 t into a C (continious) by changing the potentiometer ?
