Wulfman, do you own a boat? It looks like a propellor retaining nut to me.
So I am in my bosses office the other day. Up on top of a cabinet behind him is a jar full of liquid and something unknown to me. I ask him what it is and he tells me this story.
A girl used to work for him who always took time off. Alot of BS excuses. One day she says she needs tomorrow off to go get a horse neutered. My boss just laughs and says Jokingly, "Yeah sure, I'll let you have the day off if you bring me the nuts in a jar".
The next morning there was a jar of nuts on his desk.

This one is easily explained. Junk has already given you the answer. It's a bit like the old trick of putting piles of soil on your neighbours lawn so he thinks he's got moles.
