Okay I'm looking at this truck. Aside from it not having the diesel in it, it does have a 2F. It is RHD. I'm just curious if it is a 45.

Also how hard is it to fix this....

thanks in advance.

Another thing....being as it is RHD does the shift patter stay the same so to get to get from 1st to 4th you would be coming toward you instead of away? Or does it reverse for the Aussie trucks.

yes it's a 45, you would need to get a rain gutter from one of the vendors on here, and the shift pattern is the same.

Good to know. I assumed it was a 45.....and it was obviously either an HJ or BJ at some point but is now a FJ.

Looks like a non removable top FJ 45 with a new front clip on it.

Kirt from Cruiser Outfitters had a FJ 45 Top Panel in the for sale section.

D'animal why do you assume the front clip has been changed?

It's an HJ-45 or HJ-47. Doesn't make much difference which as the only real difference is the motor anyway (H vs 2H) if the diesel has been swapped for a 2F.

D'animal: those vent window doors were not available in the US. But other markets got the late model doors with the wing windows until 1984 IIRC. Look at the molding along the door handle, you'll see it's identical to, say, a '79 FJ-40, the only difference in the door being the wing vent.

Fixing that rain gutter depends on if you can do bodywork or not, or are willing to get it done.

The truck is a 1980. I stopped at the dealer about 6 months ago and he thought he had it sold after he got some new seats in it. I asked to hear the Toyota diesel and he said, "No diesel just the 2F." I mentioned the missing badge on the grill. I think it came from Australia like that. They shipped and a BJ40 that is also for sale at the same time.

I'm thinking come tax time I might get into this truck. I need something with a solid top on it and a place to haul stuff....plus how cool would it be to drive a flatbed Land Cruiser around with RHD.

I thought the non removable tops were from the early 1960's on swb rigs?

all the 45 series utes have removable roofs and can be replaced with fibre glass panels

Not sure that is a SWB, hard to tell with the tray back.

My guess is it is late model, 1980 sound right. Look for bondo were the seam should be, regular rust point that might have been "fixed" with bondo.

May I ask what "seam" you are talking about?

Okay let's assume everything on the truck is in the typical shape that I have shown. A few things here and there that need fixing but overall in great shape.....and runs great. What is it worth?

The seam that I and malcb are talking about is for the hardtop. The top should come off just like your 40 series. Look for a seam about 6" or so above the fuel filler cap going around the back of the cab. I cannot see it in the pics that have been posted.

The front grille might have been swapped out at some stage, possibly if the front headlight panel has been replaced, that I think would explain the missing 'Diesel' badge, certainly makes more sense than swapping a diesel motor for a 2F. As for the roof, that'd be easy enough to replace with a fibreglass item, not worth trying to repair that. Otherwise, looks pretty clean.:)

Didn't check the VIN, I realize that would tell me a lot about everything. I was just taking pictures for the local MO guys and he told me his cash price and it has got me to thinking since I need a solid top truck that can haul some stuff if I need to.

I'll see about finding another picture.
