Is this a bad buy? Tell me why I shouldn't pull the trigger

I'm really interested in this 2003 Lexus GX460. I owned a 2005 4Runner SR5 and feel like this would be a great rig, but it seems so over priced. Should I hold out for the market to correct?

If it's what you want and affordable in your situation, why worry whether or not it's a bad price?

Buy it and be the guy who does NOT say " I got a good deal".

BUT....that looks like an exceptionally clean, low mileage GX470. If you really, really want a GX470 AND want a clean, low-mileage one, there just aren't many at all out there, and you may look for a year plus to find another example (IF you can find one at all).

Would I buy it? No, it's too expensive for a 19-year old rig, and too nice/rare to take on the trails (which defeats the purpose of a GX470 - a inexpensive vehicle that can be off-roaded). If you actually want to use the GX as a off-roading/overlanding platform, get a cheaper one with more miles that isn't as nice and save the money for mods.

what are you planning to do with it? if you want a super clean daily driver that can do some light off roading, that might be good for you.
if you want a trail rig, buy something with higher mileage and spend the difference on cool off road stuff.

personally i dont think id want to spend more than 18 on that, despite its excellent condition.

Thanks for the perspective and re-affirming the initial thought behind getting a GX. I want to be able to enjoy not worry about it.

Thanks @VSPro9, my plan would be to enjoy it, a bit as a daily driver, and up to the ski hill (family of 4) with room for gear and road tripping into NFS lands. Some light towing of our teardrop. I think the thing that I've been doing is trying to work out if it's a bad deal. I just can't buy a bad deal. Thanks for your input.

They may be open to negotiation. You could check it out, maybe make a "reasonable" offer. Or pay an independent shop to access condition. If they think it's worth high blue book then such an offer would not be a bad deal.

Thanks, I ended up bailing. I just couldn't justify it. Went with a 2018 Toyota Tundra TRD.
