Is this a 65 fuel tank?

New to the FJ world and my first posLooking to replace this tank because a large amount of flaking liner has been plugging things up. This is out of a 65 FJ40.
Is it a 65 Tank?

No clue. I would do some sort of paint stripper solution in that old tank with a gallon or two of clean crushed pea gravel. Put it in the back of a truck and drive around for a week or two - that should scrub away any loose liner. Flush out all the trash really well. Pour in a quart of denatured alcohol and slosh that around to rinse the entire inside of the tank, pour out the alcohol and let the tank dry for a week. Now treat the tank with alcohol proof gas tank liner.

I had a seeping seam in my 72 back in the mid 80's. I used an alcohol proof liner from JC Whitney - has never leaked since.

Thanks, I did consider that option and still might do it. Definitely the least expensive

No Early tanks had no little vent line. Just a 1/2” one next to the filler

I should add that it did have rubber caps, hose clamped to 3 of the tubes. So it looks like a new 68-72 tank could possibly replace it if the toxic cocktail method fails.

That tank is for a 40 that had the evap seperator in the back of the center section of front seat. Not sure what years but NOT 65'.
