I'm pretty sure my cruiser is sitting much lower than it was in it's glory days especially at the rear axle, Is anyone else experiencing this?

I was battling a sagging rear driver side, sat lower by about an inch. I messed with tbars extensively and never really got to where I wanted it. Last ditch effort was brand new OEM springs. That helped out quite a bit and brought me very close to level BUT they also gave me a .5 to .75 inch lift. So in my experience, yes my 2004 OEM springs were worn out and adding new OEM springs made a noticeable difference.
One other thing to mention, I followed up with a set of air bags for the rear springs. That gave me almost another 3/4 inch lift and made the ride so much better, got rid of some of the floaty feelings my truck had. I'm super happy with this setup. I had 400 lbs of sand in the back recently and with only 5 psi in the air bags I barely dropped a half inch. Could have easily brought it up higher too if need be.
Short answer: Yes.
80 series, 100 series, - change coils every 5 years.
Quite unfortunate. Most things sag with age.![]()
Do you mind if I ask you what brand of airbags you got and how much? I have similar issues.I was battling a sagging rear driver side, sat lower by about an inch. I also have a question about new OEM coil springs. The last time I talked w @murf at CBT, he told me that Toyota has a 490 mm rear coil spring and a 520 mm rear coil spring.
My question is, what size came stock on a 99 LX? Is the 520 mm coil spring a new way to avoid the 30 mm spacer?
Did you get an answer on this? I also have an LX and would rather have springs than a spring/spacer combo. Did you go with the 520mm?
Do you know if the AHC-specific springs are 490mm? If I got the 520mm that would alleviate the need for the 30mm spacers, right? You need to ask specifically for AHC rear springs. There's only one size. I had them put in w 30mm spacers, then had the front and rear pressures dialed in and the ride is dramatically better now. It seriously feels like a different vehicle.
You don't need the spacers, but Paddo recommended doing it for longevity purposes.
It's not about the height, it's about the spring rate. Only OEM AHC coils or aftermarket king springs will work on an unloaded LxDo you know if the AHC-specific springs are 490mm? If I got the 520mm that would alleviate the need for the 30mm spacers, right?
I'm in the same situation...Rear sags and bottoms out on dips, speed bumps or if I have my camping gear. I'm tempted to install a lift but my wife loves how much more smooth and comfortable the ride is on the 100 compared to my 80 that is lifted. I was thinking of installing an Icon lifting but still grasping spend almost $5k on a lift. I'm leaning towards Icon since I've read and told that the ride will be like or if not better than stock.
Is there a cheaper route in getting a lift and the ride will be as smooth and comfortable as stock? Or am I just dreaming of such a thing?
