Is Slee the only option for sliders?

I think this thread is funny.

Imola Red should be more diplomatic and have a better understanding of business. And yet, he has a point. I'm sure he's not the only person who has thought of a cheaper option than SLEE.


You don't have to wait 3 months for someone to design sliders if you take your truck down to their shop Some people may even give you a discount if they decide to make a jig so they can make more...

My weld-on hybrid style sliders will be made out of 2.5" .188 square and 2" .188 round. I plan on paying $600 installed...

I don't think Christo is getting ready to move to Beverly Hills with all the cash he's piling up selling LC stuff was my only point. Heck...I made my own sliders and other stuff too...more out of the challenge than anything else...I could have worked my day job and made a whole lot more money than I saved over the 2-weeks it took me to build the sliders that's for sure...

You nailed it!

I believe that is called opportunity cost, and that is what makes Slee sliders a deal for most. Do you have the equipment? Do you have some skills? Do you have two weeks to work/plan/ try new ideas and finally get it right?

It can be done, but what other things are you willing to give up to keep the cost down? Do I have a pair, no but I am saving money for them!

Nobody is arguing home-built sliders in this thread. Just pointing out that you could potentially save several hundred dollars

I know my welds suck, and I would never weld on my truck, let alone someone elses. And no, I can't bend 2" .188 tube in my garage, and I don't have a notcher, and I don't think the HOA would care for all the grinding.

Hey guys go thru and read all my posts in this thread. I have never quoted prices or said prices are what was most important. I first asked for other STYLES. Then brought up that we need more competition because of just mainly one option in the market right now.

That's it. Read into more if you want but that's all I was saying.

I have tried the options of working on other people's trucks and borrowing vehicles. This just delays the release. So we tend to buy the vehicles we need, however that costs money. Just one of the items that increase overhead.

I'll only reinforce the point that Slee's sliders are worth every penny! I for one feel safer with them on when driving in the traffic I do everyday with idiot drivers. Secondly, I put them on before Death Valley and used them on one or two spots. They potentially saved the Body from expensive repairs. The sliders have a small scratch which can be touched up in just a few minutes. Keep up the great product development Christo!

Speaking of body protection.....you knowwhat else those sliders do? They protect our trucks agains door dings. Others' doors hit the slider instead.

I just ordered those Dimello sliderfor the Taco for JUST that reason. We don't even wheel it.

When someone creates a market (Slee 100 sliders), all of the sudden, it is a viable market. In essence, Slee took all the risk/development/marketing/creating the idea/etc and all other companies reap the benefits of this new market.

If you use that as a frame of reference, you can see why many people are very loyal to Slee. I think it's b/c of his shop that outfitting a 100 is actually a viable wheeling alternative!

All other bickering aside sliders may be the best mod for a vehicle in most cases. Mine have paid for themselves already as well. I was on a relatively innocent trail and going up and over a large stone/small boulder depending on how you look at it and the frickin lugs on the swampers hooked on it and pulled it loose rolling out from under the wheel and WHAM!! Slider insurance premium was worth it on that one rock alone.

Well i do not mean to get into the middle of anything here but was wondering if anyone has thought about the sliders that ARB makes. Do they even import them into the US? A friend of mine sent me a price list for ARB in Australia dated Feb 2005 and the sliders for 100 series are in the $830 AUD range which comes out to be around $645 USD and that may just be some "list" price no quantity involved of course there is shipment to the US but i guess i am just curious if they even import them?

Maybe they have new models? 4 years ago when I was shopping the Aussies told me they sucked and got bent easily. That was then......this is 2006.
