Changed out a bunch of fluids today, including the T-case. There were three very small pieces of metal (see photo) on the magnet. Should I be concerned about this? Is it possible these were picked up from the last fluid change (e.g. The shop floor)? Finally, is there any other tests I can do to see if there is indeed damage to the T-case (the car seems to be driving fine. There is a slight thud at times, like a few seconds after I come to a stop, or let off the accelerator to coast on the freeway. However, these seem to be consistant with the slip yoke thud there is already a thread about, but maybe I'm wrong). Thanks in advance!

I wouldn't worry about it. Those could be from anywhere, if it's driving fine, let sleeping dogs lie.

Drain and refill.

This is all good news. No, definitely not looking for a reason to pull the T-case.

Am I right to assume that the most likely cause of the minor thud would be the spline shafts? It seems a bit odd that the thud would happen a few seconds after I come to a stop. Also, does anyone know why the spline shaft thuds?? My only experience putting a spline shaft together was my '68 mustang, and that was a very tight fit, it's hard to imagine any rotational slack that would cause a thud with such a tight fit...

The general consensus is the type of grease being used, it must be moly based grease.
That being said, i use Green Grease, it is a full synthetic 100% waterproof/dustproof/high temp farm implement grease and I do not have that thunk. I do not know if it is a moly grease or not.
