Long time listener, first time caller. Bought a 2005 LX470 on December 19th, the third one I have owned. It spent 17 years in Kansas City Kansas. Looked at frame rails and around axles, thought it looked fine. Took it to my favorite local Toyota shop and the service writer told me it was all rusty underneath. He implied I had made a mistake buying it essentially. I have a second Gen Tacoma and an FJ plus my boy has a 4Runner so I am inclined to be aware of rust problems. My buddy who used to live up north said drive it and forget it. What do you guys think?

Its got some rust, but I've seen a lot worse. you can remediate it, stop it, or forget about it - all depends on your time and budget

get it blasted converted and 'painted'....
or just send a gallon of fluid film ,cut with some atf, at it with the self load air sprayer

Doesn't look too bad based on what you've posted.
Do what the two posts above say and forget about it.

Looks TERRIBLE!!!! But I will gladly take it off your hands...:beer::beer: and buy you a beer!

That is a simple clean up and will be well worth the effort! I would consider that underside "Northeast Near Mint" condition!

That's pretty much how mine looks and I considered it pretty clean at time of purchase. Some occasional oil spraying will keep that frame mint for years.

Man you guys are making me feel much better! The Toyota shop made me think I need to sell it

they just dont want to work on it......
might get their hands dirty and bust a bolt or two 😥

s***s fine, buy the bolts and consider while you’re in their parts for major fixes and let it ride brother.
