Is it OK for the windshield shop to fill the chip on my headlights?

There's a small chip on my headlight and I was wondering if it's advisable to get that fixed by the windshield repair guys for $20 before the crack explodes.

Have done it a couple of times, can't see a problem in that.

Question: Do you guys know what they use to fill in windshield chips??? I had a little rock strike my windshield yesterday and dont want it to become a major crack!

Don't know for sure, but I always figured it was just clear epoxy. John

Yes some type of epoxy. Should be able to pick it up at auto parts place.

I've had a couple chips treated and the key to a smooth finish is a piece of plastic rubbed over the epoxy to smooth it out and remove bubbles. Once that's solid scrap the excess off with a straight razor.

I think the same process would work on headlights but I prefer to preemptively strike by ordering the 3m clear protector. I think idahodoug use to sell kits. Haven't had a problem with the headlights since I put on the 3m.

yeah it's a clear resin.

You can get kits at harbor freight, auto parts stores, etc.

Lamin-X is a brand name of headlight film but i dunno if anyone is cutting it for fj80 lenses.
