Is anybody still making the plastic centers for the 40 series horn buttons?

Hi everybody..... going to get after my steering wheel and horn for my next project.
I'm looking for a new plastic center only. I know some guys were making them for a while. Anybody still doing that? Just need one
1970 early style.

If nothing else, I wonder if there’s a way to fill the cracks with clear epoxy. Mine looks worse than yours.
Interested to see what you learn.

It’s a wheel Speedway sells for a 1947 Chevrolet pickup. Diameter is 15” and is on an aftermarket column. Was the closest I could find to stock looking.
I’m doing a Saginaw conversion so the smaller size will work ok.

Thanks for the info. Found it on the Speedway website, but sonovagun....I just spend a bunch of money on an OEM steering shaft to convert my 3 on tree truck to power steering......and its 33 splines at the steering wheel hub. The earlier FJ40 steering shafts are 36 spline at the wheel hub, which have a possibility of working with the wheel, which is GM 3/4"-36 spline female hub. I like the look of that wheel and like you, want to go smaller diameter when I go to power steering. It's always something with these trucks!

Options for the ‘67 / power steering conversion are pretty limited so I pretty much had to go with the GM column and wheel. Plus the shaft has a 2” diameter so mounting hardware and brake pedal clearance became an issue. And brake switch…. And…
Yeah the downstream effects are endless.

Our son 3D printed us one. I think it turned out pretty good. The original factory one is on the bottom 3d printed one on top.

That's Awesome! Guess I've got to get my boy a 3d printer 😅. Seriously though... If he ever gets that printer fired back up, I'd love to buy one. Or, if he's willing to share the file, I'd appreciate it.

All of the Toyota horn pieces fit perfectly in the wheel. I used the original round spring the button snaps into. Only thing that was an issue was the plastic assembly with the ground wire. I just ground it down to the correct length so it would fit.
The center circumference is the same as the Toyota wheel. That flat portion of the center hub doesn’t really show with the button on there.
Fireflyr, how did you mount the Toyota horn button to the speedway wheel? I have been staring at the same wheel in my 40 but couldn’t figure out how to mount a horn button to it.

Still looking for the plastic horn button center. Is anyone on the forum still 3d printing them?

I’ve really got to stop searching the forums. Here is something else that I didn’t know that I needed, well, two things including @Green Bean ‘s 3D printer.

I’m saving this post for future reference. @EWheeler , let me know how this works on your Cruiser. I’m wondering how easy it would be to put the ‘78 horn buttons into it?

It wont work with our Toyota columns, which are 33 spline. It may work with the earlier 36 spline columns, but i think that was sometime mid ‘69 and earlier that had 36 splines. If you have a chevy column, it'll work no problem. This is a good option to keep original look with smaller diameter if you can make it work with your steering column shaft splines.

Thanks for the heads up. I wasn’t quite understanding that when I read the post before.
