is 202 degrees an acceptable operating temp? (1 Viewer)

You are entirely too anal. 210-220 degrees at the engine is normal. Just do not get above that

i thought so too until i saw almost a 20* drop in operating temp.

glad to hear it, that's the way it supposed to run. Do you still have those large lights on the ARB?

nope. and they are for sale here: https://forum.ih8mud.com/sale-parts/208320-light-force-240s-w-clear-yellow-lenses.html

x2, and, we tried to tell you e! :D:D:D

i never disagreed. i was just sooooooooooooooooo bummed it was going to cost so much. honestly, because i cant do the work myself i am going to have to put $4k into the truck this month. serious bummer.

i will put em back on next weekend and see what the temps are like. good thinking.

Yer not e, as in e9999, who I always give grief to whenever it is possible!

bah! I can get way lower temperatures than 180 anytime I want to. Just don't want to bother... :)

Maybe if you left yer engine off! Otherwise you apparently and argumentatively "like it hot." Ha ha - just yankin yer chain man, but, again, we were right, you were wrong, neener neener neener. :D  :D

i just changed the coolant yesterday and been driving around freeway, city, etc with the AC on and notice a difference.
the temps now fluxuate frequently from 184F to 190F. Still mostly 190 but it moves around much more.

the old coolant looked pretty decent but def. going to change it regularly now. simply doing that seems to have improved cooling

FirstToy,
The thermostat isn't actually opening fully until ~190F anyways, which explains the behavior you are seeing. IMO it's a good sign of a working t-stat when you see that.

before the coolant change, my temp would stay rock solid 190F and move up w/ I worked the engine and back to 190F.

after the change, it will flux from 186-190F w/ normal driving. I assume this tells me the coolant is doing a better job of cooling the engine...

i found it very difficult to get the engine to 190F w/ changing the coolant. I gave up at 186F :)
