I'm going to put a set of shocks on my GX (w/KDSS) in the next few months. I'm not a hard core off-road guy. Mostly outings with scouts and forrest service roads. I'd like to retain a good bit of the Lexus ride, but want to add capability. Ironman FoamCell Pros come recommended by a friend, but I've not spoken to anyone with direct experience. What are your observations?

The foam pros are good. The rest are middle of the road. They are good, not the best.

I recently installed the ironman kit on my gx with the foam cell shocks. If you are looking to retain the factory ride, look elsewhere. It definitely changed the ride characteristics of the truck. Not adversely, but it's more truck like now.

IAmDan, are you talking about the Foam Cell Shocks, or the Foam Cell Pros (white or black)?

I have a set of foam cell pros with their C (heavy) springs that should be here on Monday. I'll try to remember to provide input once I get them installed and get a feeling for them.

I'll admit, I'm a little nervous about buying them since I can't find many reviews for them. What it came down to for me was that they seem like they should be similar in most ways to the other 2.5" shocks out there for quite a bit less money. They also have a 3 year warranty, and Mark from Metal Tech is their main US dealer, and Metal Tech hasn't wronged me yet. In all honesty, I doubt I will really be able to tell a difference to these vs Icons vs Radflo when it comes down to it. Plus, while these are rebuild-able, they are inexpensive enough to just replace them once they wear out (or get a warranty replacement if they don't last 3 years).

I have the standard foam cell (white) on mine. There is nothing at all wrong with it. And coming out of a pickup it is still a far superior ride. I actually prefer the road manners of the truck more now than before. I was not discouraging anyone from buying the kit, I think it's great personally. It's just not like riding on air. If I had to lift mine again I would do the same kit, especially for the price.
