Hey Guys,

I know some of you have the VAIS ipod adapter for listening to music but I was wondering if anyone has tried the VAIS video kit to play videos from the IPOD on the LC Nav system.

I have a 2003 LC with Nav and 6 disc DVD changer. According to the VAIS website the video feature only works on 2005+ LCs but their testing is not very thourough by VAIS own admission.

Has anyone tried the Video feature on a 2003 cruiser?

I second this request ;)

I have a 2004 LC with nav and will be installing my video soon. i will let you know.

let me know also i only doubt it because crazy Apple is proprietary (sorry for the spelling) with their software.

Any other input? Does anyone have the IPod Video adapter? What is everyone's experience with the VAIS audio only adapter? Does it work well with the NAV system? Can the 6 disc DVD changer stay connected?

Thanks.

yes and yes

Did you ever install the video adapter? Does it work?

Any updates on the VAIS video adapter?

Can it play videos that are external to the iPod functionality of an iPhone, for example, could it play the YouTube videos from an iPhone, or play the video from a SlingBox via SlingPlayer Mobile?

I would really to know as well. I'm wary about ordering the video/audio adapter cause they say it's not "fully tested" and might just go with the audio only instead.

again, I second this request!!

I found a company on ebay that sells the VAIS kits. They claim to be very knowledgeable as far as what works. I will call them tomorrow and try to get some answers...

Called the VAIS reseller and got a few answers: I was told that the VAIS Ipod Video function will NOT work in the 2003 LC based on the paperwork (not experience) they have. It will work with the audio only ipod adapter and the XM Sat Radio adapter.

I am still not convinced that the Video will not work but without someone to test this we will never know.

My question to them was if I can combine the XM and Ipod systems - they will find out and get back to me.

Well thats a bummer but was kinda expected.

It would be helpful to note which generation NAV unit you have? Where you specific to the VAIS vendor about the generation when you asked the question?

That's a generic video adapter, not a iPod adapter. You could use the adapter to input iPod video but have no on-screen controls or iPod charging functionality.

I was very specific but as mentioned before, the guy I spoke to only told me what he read from marketing materials provided by VAIS - not experience with our trucks.

So who's going to be the guinea pig and try the $400 VAIS video iPod box to let us all know if it really works or not?! :D

Wowzers that's expensive, I did mine for $40..... I bought a video cable for my 32gb iphone 3gs and plugged that cable into the iphone supplied docking station (for easy pull in and out), didn't work the first time with the 3gs. But it worked after I patched the iphone with the (iapd) file and it now works with it on the 3.1os. It also works with my old iphone 2g and 3g, my video 64gb ipod touch and my 160gb video ipod.... figure why not test all my apples.

This is what I prefer over the ipod hook up..... which is alright.

I ended up installing an external, western digital usb powered Terra-byte ($180-200 at the time I purchased probably cheaper now) filled it with all my music videos and movies... only filled up 850gb.

* I don't have a stock nav system's, so I'm not sure if the newer cruiser nav units have usb accessibility?

I like the iphone hook up for charging my iphone and playing pandora. That's about it!

Stock NAV does not have aux line audio or USB inputs on it.
