I just had an iPod/MP3 jack installed in my stock FJ62 Radio. I works perfectly!
The installation was done by Factory Radio Service in Rancho Cucamonga CA (factoryradioservice.com). He charged me $60 plus shipping.
As you can see from the pics, the jack is very inconspicuous. The location isn't particularly ideal, but that location was chosen because there was room behind the faceplate to mount the jack. Other areas weren't feasible.
I looked at the various options mentioned on this forum. I thought about going with a Scion unit, and I also considered a single DIN and double DIN aftermarket head units. In the end, I prefer the stock look. The iPod holds a charge for several hours and I have an inverter if I need a recharge, so I can live with this trade-off.
