I have a 2010 LC, and want to be able to put my ipod in the glove box instead of keeping it plugged into the AUX / USB port on center console. Any suggestions on how to accomplish this?

Toyota makes an accessory iPod interface.

It will once you install the kit (or have it installed)...

The kit plus into the back of the stereo head unit and the plug gets routed into the glove box.

Did some more research and apparently by using the toyota interface kit you can have either the SAT Radio OR IPOD hookup, but not both. That seems odd. Looking for suggestions to what other LC 200 owners have done. Why is this feature so difficult as it comes standard on so many cars?

I think the only other option is the VAIS products, and even then, they may not work for the 2010 model. A couple of members here have installed the product. Run a search for "iPod" or "VAIS" to see some threads.

I think your best bet is to call VAIS and speak to someone there to make sure the have a product that will allow for both satellite and iPod for the 2010 model.

Good luck and let us know what you find!

Yep...I had it dealer installed and it uses the SAT input on the headunit. It does work very well via the steering controls although the playlist navigation takes a bit to learn...the user guide was not very helpful.

I also have a BMW with a direct integration of the ipod. It works very well and is controlled via the iDrive with many more control options. Shortcomings aside, I think for the LC this is a great option that won't cause any future warranty concerns and has more than suitable quality.

After much research, if I wanted to keep both XM Radion and Ipod, it came down to re-wiring the USB port from the center console into the glove box. Not trusting myself for this project, it would have cost about $150. I found a different solution with some high test velcro and really short Ipod cable. For $15.00 total.

I just picked up a new LC and am going to road trip it home this week. One iPod Q; I have an old shuffle and was going to load it up for the trip.

Can I plug the Ipod usb directly into the LC's port for use or, do I need to use the Shuffle headphone jack and plug that into the LC's aux jack (aux to aux cable)?

I prefer to be completely upfront, I am an interested party in this thread as I am the official United Arab Emirates dealer for Vais tech.

Vais have recently launched the all new MediaLinQ Plus (ML+). Take a look here: Video,Audio Information Solutions for Toyota and Lexus (iPod, USB, MP3, XM/Sirius SAT Radio, Video integration)

You will find that the MediaLinq Plus (ML+) will offer you a much richer Audio visual experience than the Toyota interface. A brief overview of is main features are: -

"iPod Out" Interface
"iPod Video Out" Interface
Digital Video output with HDTV 480p quality
Analog Audio/Video input
Analog Video input (camera)
Video Out for Rear Entertainment System
Customizable Menu
iPod USB input
Optional internal HDD
MP3, WAV, FLAC files playback from mass storage devices
High-End Audio with Extremely Low level of Total Harmonic Distortion
High-speed USB 2.0 Host interface
Digital Audio processing
Multi-source integration with SAT radio

The ML+ is shipped with cabling of sufficient length so that you could locate it in your glovebox, always be fully charged and still have full control via the steering wheel or nav screen. Note: You will also need the Apple component cable like this Apple Component AV Cable - Apple Store (UK)

If you have any queries please feel free to contact me on here, or contact Eugene at Vais Tech on info@vaistech.com

Regards

Matt
