I've seen the setups in a few rigs...I picked up a waterproof iPod case for my for my old Gen2 and have a pair of inexpensive waterproof speakers.

I've perused EBay a bunch of times and have checked out a few possibilities:

2ch 300W MOTORCYCLE SPEAKERS MP3 ATV AMPLIFIER AMP AMPS - eBay (item 360178103462 end time Sep-06-09 17:45:44 PDT)

Pyle PLMRA120 2-Channel 240-Watts Waterproof Marine Amplifier in Car Amplifiers at JR.com is also an option, and waterproof/marine (and the option I'm leaning towards)

Any thots? I 'know' there are some tried and true solutions out there...

I'm not sure about "waterproof"..but durable it sure is...

A Dewalt Jobsite radio with the aux. jack in the front. You prolly already have batteries..it takes from 9v to the 18v's. I poke a hole thru a ziploc bag for my iPhone aux cord and plug it into the radio...sounds great!

A 14.4v last for 3 days not cranking it to loud...unless you're looking for something to build in to the Rig

'rig mounted' is the idea....already have a small ipod dock, but would prefer to not leave that out in the elements :)

Try it out! its only $30!

Ive Been Eyeing those for a few weeks on ebay, there are a few out different kinds, Im So Sick of my Decks in the Cruiser dieing, and all i ever listen to is Ipod anyway, so my plan is to ditch the deck, replace it with a switch panel, then add one of these Amps with volume knob, because its a pain to use the volume on the Ipod itself..

This one is kindof cool, because it can be even more hidden, and use the remote to control it.

4X120W Wireless Remote Amplifier USB For Car Bike Boat - eBay (item 370184267612 end time Sep-02-09 18:57:57 PDT)

What Speakers did you pickup? how are you mounting them? I can never get enough sound to here it over the tires at HWY Speed..

That is a pretty cool device. You could essential ditch the ipod all together and just have a 32gb sd card or 64gb usb stick plugged in. But something tells me 100w per channel is a little unrealistic. Maybe 30w whithout any distortion. Doesn't look waterproof and if the remote got wet you would be sol. Though for 50 bucks you could just buy another one.

I'd love to see one of these made by a quality company. I'd pay 200 easily for something like this. I so want to ditch my radio. As I too only use the Ipod function.

These are the speakers I use. The last set lasted 4 years after me blasting them all the time and them filling with mud. And if someone steals them your not out much coin. http://www.google.com/products/catalog?q=dual+speakers&oe=&cid=2970441614422221523&sa=title#p

Another smaller cheaper option. They sound pretty good also.

weird I'm looking to do the same with the boat. I'm tired of smoking marine head units, all I need is a marine grade docking station for the Ipod, I have speakers already in place. Why the need for the amp, just to make it louder? Can someone diagram the layout? Sorry to jack the thread woody, but it's the along the same lines.

Glad I found this thread. I'm looking to do the same to the 60. I want to repurpose the actual radio spot for gauges, and the smaller slot for the CB. I was thinking something like this mounted below the console, the volume knob or front panel relocated.

4 CH 400W Car Audio Amplifier Motorcycle AMP ATV Red - eBay (item 370240554868 end time Sep-03-09 22:44:40 PDT)

I have no desire for the CD player, and radio is spotty when driving the cruiser at best.

Took the dash apart yesterday, ordered this amp today, now time to wait.

Typically, the ipod/mp3 players only put out miniscule power. Generally not enough to drive anything other than earbuds. Even the small portable speaker systems use the extra wall/battery power to drive the speakers. So, if you want to use a dock, it will need to provide the power for the speakers on the boat, which is why these amps are appealing to those of us who don't need/want a head unit. They provide us with the power for the speakers and allow the use of a portable music player.

Hope that helps, not up to doing a pic right now.:meh:

I did something similiar in my 40 but with my syrius/XM receiver. I ran the audio out to an am from the receiver and then to the speakers. Works liek a charm, but I didn't go waterproof.
