I have the ProClips too and it’s the best phone holder I’ve owned (also bought it for my other vehicle too I liked it so much). Having it in the a/c slot has been perfect for me. I like it more than the windshield mounted Ram suction cup setup.

The RAM mount drives me a little crazy. It’s basically a two-handed affair to mount...and if trying to remove the phone one-handed...the four little rubber pieces freely come off with even a small bit of pull as the phone is removed. Not something you want to fiddle with as a driver.
I have a RAM Mounts X-Grip attached to a KUDA Mount as a base. I’ve been running it for almost a year — initially with an iPhone 7+ and more recently with an iPhone XS Max. With respect to the rubber tips on the RAM, I can see that it might be an issue having them pop off but I’ve never had one do it. If it ever became a problem I’d probably just glue them on. I’m pleased with the set up. Only gripe is I have to turn my gaze down to see GPS, but I can live with it. (That and when I upgraded to USB-C I couldn’t find an Apple approved cable in black but that’s not exactly the mount’s fault.)

Ya, I don’t mean to slam the RAM phone mount. It’s just that I’ve found the rubber tips on the floor, and had one go utterly lost. The time it’s an issue is passenger use...or when I need to grab my phone with one hand. Since the two main arms are independently spring loaded, there’s just no easy way to mount or dismount the phone with one hand. I mean...it’s doable, but there’s gotta be an easier tweak they could implement.
But meh... Complaints are a dime a dozen.
I think it’s a versatile, secure mount. I would just have a few suggestions for RAM if they asked me.

Every RAM X-grip I've bought comes with a small tube of super glue, and instructions to use it to glue the rubber tips on. That’s interesting. I didn’t get tubes.
Not a big deal. I think I just get impatient with designs that could be so easily remedied. When you need to ship super-glue to help keep rubber bumps on...someone in design is getting sloppy.
Seems like all it would take is a slight hook edge on the metal arms and those soft-rubber bumps wouldn’t fall off.Oh well... Just seems a little clumsy compared to some pretty great stuff from RAM.

I was going to mention Super Glue, but you beat me too it.
@Markuson Put a small dab of Super Glue on the peg and slide the rubber tip on. I have a X-Grip in both my wife and my vehicles, the glue has held up fine for a couple of years now.
Another vote here for ProClip. Have had it for my iPhone X for 2+ years. No problems.

I noticed they have one specifically for 16+ LC, but curious about other mounts. Hoping to not block my vents.
So far so good with this. A little bouncy. Will update if it doesn’t work out.

Agreed that the biggest con of the X-Grip is the two-handed operation. Not sure if this has been mentioned here before, but Mob Armor makes a solid IPhone Mount that appears to be more secure than the X-Grip and a more innovative/visually appealing design. The plus is it can be incorporated into the RAM line-up with a 1” ball attachment. I’ll probably pick up a MA mount this fall when work slows down and I have some time to travel to justify the upgrade.

I forget the name but the mount attaches to the side of the center console, right around the area of the shifter on the passenger side so it essentially sits right where a passenger’s left knee would be. On top of the mount I put one of their 360 degree ball mount attachments and then an iPhone X specific holder. The phone can be angled and swiveled up towards me but does sit low, about the height of the shifter. I’m on travel for a week so can’t take a picture but I’ll see if I can dig one up.
Just went to the ProClip site and now I recall what I did. I used the Land Cruiser specific Console mount, put a Tilt-Swivel (essentially a ball joint) on the mount, then put an angled extension plate and finally the iPhone specific mount. So 4 pieces to make a bit of a Frankenstein system but the part that touches the LC is LC specific, the part holding the phone is specific to my iPhone. The other two pieces in the middle are the “secret sauce” that let’s me angle, spin, tilt the phone where I want. I live in Arizona....I can’t block even one AC vent so this works well for me but again, it’s low.

When I owned my 2011, I mounted the X-Grip to the A-Pillar utilizing a RAM 1” ball and one of their multi-joint arms. It took some trial and error, but I found this spot to be perfect. It’s a rock solid solution, with no bouncing or rattling.
The photo makes the phone appear closer to the window than it actually is, so I doubt the side curtain airbag would contact it, but that is something to consider.
^ that is what I’ve done as well, but I don’t have that sweet arm with the extra joint in the middle. I need that.

That’s what I do too and it’s extremely effective. @ethernectar posted about doing that some time back and I copied him.
I like the spot. Just wishing for easier one handed placement/removal....
