I purchased the OEM adapter for the ipod. It works great for playing and surfing my music; however, I cannot play any of my applications. The until continuously plays my music from the library! Is there a setting or something I'm missing? I want to be able to play Pandora, Iheartradio, etc. I can easily do that through AUX port, but I would rather utilize the ipod adater kit to its fullest.

By the way, I'm using this adapter for my IPHONE.

I think your gonna have to use that aux port!! I have to do the same for my iPhone! unless the connection is coming from the back of the deck you'll have to connect it to the port! If your using it through the fm transmitter, it won't work the way you want it too!

Juast my 2cents, but I think I'm right!

Thanks for the replies. I will post pics of my solution next week.

This has been a problem that has come up with other FJ owners.

The 30 pin adapter for the factory headunit will not allow applications to play music (or sound)

I have HEARD that if you plug the adapter into the iphone and then turn the iphone off and then back on again (like a full shut down) you can get sound from your apps. I haven't tried it though.

Ok. I have found a great solution. If you want to play applications on your Iphone AND allow for satellite to work as well, get a Dice Silverline Pro adapter. If you don't mess with the switch settings, it will put the adapter in a CDC/IPod Smart mode. Simply connect the adapter to the back of the stereo, and then chain it with the SAT cable. What's cool is when I want to play an application from the iPhone it actually pauses the Iphone and allows me to play what I want. This makes your Iphone emulate an external CD changer.

The OEM Ipod adapter simply sucks. It has an autplay IPOD mode that interferes with the applications on the iPhone. The OEM one WILL NOT allow you to play your existing satellite as well.

Plus, the OEM adapter is more expensive! Imagine that!

I don't know why Toyota has not updated their unit with latest technology, but please do not get one. It will save you the headaches of trying to figure out what's going on.
