Those of us with a 2016 or later have wireless charing built into the dash. I've used it with a Mophie case for my iPhone 6s. But over the few weeks it may be time for me to move to a new iPhone and I'm wondering if anyone has real experience charging an iPhone 8 with that wireless charging pad in the dash.

Yes works great with my iPhone 8. It charges as fast as the USB cable so I don’t need to miss with cables anymore unless I am streaming video over hdmi.

Check in your manual to see if Toyota used the "Qi" standard of wireless charging.

If so (and Apple says Toyotas use it), it should work well.

Thanks. I knew it uses Qi as that is what the Mophie battery pack uses. But, there are claims and then there is reality. ;). Hearing that it works well for @Ali M is just what I needed.

You can streaming your phone to the screens on the LC? Please explain, TIA.

I dont know about Iphone 8 cus I have samsung 7edge. It works but charged very slow plus the phone got really hot. I turn of the wireless charge and used that space to keep my private cash/lottery tickets stask :)

I'm actually having issues with my 2016 charging my new iPhone 8. I've never used a wireless charger so maybe i'm doing something wrong. After turning it on in a few seconds the light starts flashing orange which i believe indicates it is not charging. I do have a thin plastic Magpul case on it. When I remove the case it seems a little better, but takes a long time and gets hot. If i'm running pandora and waze it actually still runs down the battery. And when the phone slides slightly to the side from going around a bend it stops charging.

Any suggestions on how to get this to work better and without taking it out of my case?

I wrote up a couple mod posts here for streaming the phone screen to the front dash (and back if you'd like). Search for phone mirroring. I'm using your same phone, the S7 Edge. I can charge wireless while streaming, but after 30 minutes it gets real hot, I cut it off, give it 30 mins, then charge again. While not using the phone and charging, it never overheats, it can charge to full. Nature of the beast, wireless charging creates heat.

@757driver, I’m not sure it all works with a case on. I believe the reason the iPhone 8 has a glass back is for wireless charging or so I was told. What I do know is when I am wireless charging my Mophie case (for my current iPhone 6s) if it is not sitting in the proper spot the amber “charging” light starts flashing. I also know that if the iPhone is in the case while charging it can get hot to the point that my iPhone shuts down. So I don’t use it much. I’m hoping the bare iPhone 8 will be better

Yup I did followed your threads and watched punches of youtube videos, would love to have it done! But I am not techy enought to have it done :-(. Wish you are closed to me so we both can work together.

Make sure you also have the hdmi cable that goes from the adapter to the rear console then switch the screens to hdmi input source and then try playing a video on YouTube in your iPhone.
Yup did that, I think someone here told me the output of my phone over 480 it need to reduce the quality of the video. i am hoping the adapter you posted may do that. In search of the unicorn :)
I did used xbox 360 hdmi adapter and it works. Then swith to xbox one it does not working :-(

Are you using iphone or Android? It can get tricky with Android due to the various forks out there.

My iPhone 8 Plus works great with the Qi charger. That’s honestly the only reason I upgraded.
