I love light. Right now I have 4 lightforce 240's but 2 got tangled in a tree. I am going to purchase the ARB commercial bumper soon and can't decide if I should try out the IPF's--I like the fact they take a 130 watt bulb. Has anybody had both the IPF and Light Force(I really like these.)

So right now I have 4 lightforce---2 may not focus very well
2 IPF RV's for fog
Thinking of the IPF 900 MSR

Also not sure where everything is going to get mounted :) Maybe some type of curved bar welded to the front of the arb......

I agree one can not have too much light. I unfortunately can not help you except I believe that the light force has a much bigger reflector. I am very curious about the Lightforce 240 I believe that they can be focused but by how much and can they be turned into wide angle and fog by adding filters. I am very interested in the answers to this thread as I would like to purchase these sort of lamps in the future and it is difficult to compare before spending ones money and they are so expensive, well they are over here in any case.

I love the lightforce--you can focus them like a maglite or put on a filter for a combo wide/pencil beam--they are sweet--I was just thinking a combo would be nice.

HID IPF really nice -wireless remote pretty good.

Endless Thanks for the link--read that a couple days back--If I could afford HID I would go with the lightforce or IPF--I agree the HID are the ultimate solution---for the time being though I need something in the lower price bracket....

The IPF 900 MSR vs the Lightforce 240 appear to be the best cheap option.

Two got tangled in a tree?? So were they on the roof or are you driving over tree's down in Mexico? What's left of them? I want to hear more details as this sounds like a funny story waiting to be told.

Bryan--Did you used to have a 3rd gen 4Runner? The lights were up front along with my bumper with a big crease :) The tree was about 25'---I hit it about 30mph--had to swerve for an oncoming truck going the wrong way---the asshat :princess: didn't even stop to see if we were o.k. I think I can fix the lights. I need an alignment--bruiser drove right over the tree. :)

Nope, Never did own a 4 runner. Did have a sweet 85 Toy P/U that I still regret selling. I had PM'd you when you were thinking of 315 tires. I've ridden in a Taxi in Mexico, and my life flashed before my eyes. I've seen bad drivers in the US, but nothing ever as bad as most of the drivers we were around there. Very scairy! Sounds like it's time for a "MEX-SMASHER" front bumper! Glad you're ok and cruiser survived.

Senor,

Let there be light!

I have read a comment by someone about the Lightforce 240 and IPF 930 by someone, somewhere... that the Lightforce had more candle power, but the IPF offered more usable light, whatever that means.

The ability to focus/spread the light sure sounds nice though.

If you broke the housing on your 240 contact the distributor whom you purchased them from and they, LightForce, may replace without charge. I broke a housing on one of my 240's and had I kept the housing I could have had it replaced free of charge. LightForce really stands behind their products. If not, the housing costs much less than an entire light. Especially if you are running the Blitz's and the mount that the parabolic housing screws onto is still servicable. Worth asking about IMHO.

Thanks for the good idea--I think becuase I live down here in Mex that I am just going to hose clamp the nut part of the light where it screws on to the base and put a bead of silicone where I cracked the housing---the reflector is intact. Chances are if lightforce sent me some new ones they would be siezed at the border--(I have lost a computer, VCR, 12 cases of wine, 2 cases of single malt this way) But you are right maybe it is worth a chance......
