I know it's new Toyota - but my roommate with 62 post here...so I thought I'd share pictures of the Ham Radio that he installed for me. Enjoy.

welcome!

what's the mount you used for the head and how is it attached to the head?

Hey...The mount was actually his magellan GPS mount that he doesn't use any more...I used the remote faceplate kit that came with the radio and ran a hole through the center of the faceplate kit and the magellan mount...a single 1/4" bolt with star washers holds it tight. That way he can reuse the mount if he wants to...we contmplated cutting the mount down or glueing the faceplate kit but again he wanted to keep the mount intact so this worked well...

The wire from the faceplate down to the brain in the glove box got routed behind the truck head unit and though the windshield defrost vent chamber...

Over all this kept the really slick look he was looking for and he can completely hide the radio and any hint of it's installation in seconds. The only thing that might be visible is the phone cord connection resting down in the defroster vent...

The speaker in the glove box is plenty loud even at highway speeds with the Ipod playing...and he has a vent clip mounted hand mic hollder coming so the hand mic won't just hang down like that forever..
