I am super fortunate and blessed to become the second owner of "Pearl", as named by a family member and the original owner in Dallas, Texas. I recently flew out from California and picked her up as a bone stock 2003 LX470 (172,000 miles) along with all of her original documentation and every service record since she was born.

My mom was out in Texas at the time so I cancelled her plane ticket home and was blessed to have her with me on Pearls first road trip...especially because the ML stereo does not work (hoping to fix that ASAP). Pearl drove like a champ and with my mom in the passenger seat, we made the trip in 2 days.

She drove like a much newer car easily cruising at 85+ ( to my suprise). I originally found my 1999 LX years ago and acquiring Pearl was an opportunity I couldn't pass up. Now passing on my 99 to my son and I am hopeful to complete a mild build on Pearl.

The subtle differences from my 99 to the 2003 were a real pleasant suprise. That 5 speed transmission seemed to really help. we made the trip back to Cali oin 2 days and there was not one issue.

First order of business was to get some wheels and tires.

Just put on my Method MR305 NV 18x9 with 285/65 R18 BFG Ko3.I am so happy with how they look with the bronze/blk :). Only very slight rub on the pinch welds (soon to fix).

Just want to say thank you to the members at ih8mud. It is such a great community and a BIG reason many of us feel confident in owning LX/LC that is 20+ years old. I am excited and motivated all over again to make progress on Pearl's mild build. I think the next order of business is researching the best way to get the ML stereo working again...then maybe upgrade to a carplay system and amp/sub route?....any way a lot of the fun for me is trying to figure out what to do...and this community gets all the dredit for my motivation.

Heres to my newly adopted family member "Pearl" and what she may become ;)
