Not going to happen with Rails. The good news is BOR makes a very well built set of good looking running board sliders. A local friend runs them and they work very well for protection and steps.

BOR? I have the same issue with 5’ tall wife.

I just want to say publicly that LCP getting beef for this thread, or his rails, is not cool.
Phil makes good, innovative products for our trucks. We'd all be better off if they're were more vendors doing that, for various aspects of the truck. (Engine swap and seat swap kits come to mind. )
If you don't like Phil's products or this thread, move on. There is no need, and no benefit to our community, in being negative.

Sorry, typo:
"there were..."

Whatever you post here is open to criticism as well as praise within the guidelines and rules of the forum. Its a public forum. I don't think its a bad thing to be criticized and I don't think @nukegoat was doing it in a derogatory way. I don't think anyone would argue that Phil's rails are a better alternative to a beefy dom rock version, thats not their purpose.

To be clear nukegoat criticizes all of our products with no merit fueled by pure jealously. We stand proud of what we do and have a hard time keeping up with demand and will never let negativity slow us down. We thanks all of our supporters for the drive as we continue to grow. Slee said it best, 15 years ago I was welding washer relocate brackets in my garage and now.

With the factory mud flaps removed reveal an ugly sight on vehicles still running flares.

By taking the factory mud flap and cutting it up as I have done several times in the past cleans the look up and compliments our Rock Rail.

Before on the left reworked on the right.

The final look is clean and stealth

Looks good.

Hey Phil, great products! I've been utilizing your spare tire carrier and swaybar removal brackets for a few years now with total satisfaction! What's the story on the Safari Turbo setup? Could sure use one of those!

Thanks for the support:clap:

Most of what I know about the Safari Turbo is in post #1. They are no longer available in the US but I have found a few other scattered around the SW. We do have another safari equipped 80 series in AZ as it recently had a full motor rebuild by Camelback Toyota. I would jump at the chance to own another as its a complete proven well built set up.

Front Swaybar disconnects Swaybar Disconnects - Land Cruiser Products - LCP

This product has been a huge success for us and can be found in over 6 countries world wide. Why because simply it works, testing has shown 15% increase in articulation just by disconnecting along with smoother transitions when wheeling. Without disconnecting if you wheel hard you run the risk of tearing off the axle mounts where the swaybar attaches. This can cause some serious problem in the worst place, be aware. If you choose to stay connected and wheel hard consider Landtanks heavy duty axle brackets.

Everything needed is included and install take less than an hour even if you are slow and challenged mechanically.

The brackets in existing threaded holes in the frame. You want position brackets with the tab facing the rear and to the outside.

Once you remove the bolts currently holding the swaybar in place you will want to exercise its movement. The turbo truck swaybar has not been serviced since day one and it was stiff to move around to re position to the new brackets. It should move freely without any force. I mount the brackets without tighten, secure the bar in the brackets, and while pushing the side of the bracket inward I tighten. This is done on both sides. The goal here it so the swaybar will hold in place while you pin it in place. This makes disconnecting much faster and easier to do.

Now that everything is bolted in place and the swaybar it pinned up you need to do the most IMPORTANT PART do not over look this.

You want cycle your suspension and make sure brake lines, ABS wiring, and dif lock wiring is clear with no binding. On this factory locked 80 I removed the clip on the swaybar holding the ABS wiring in place on the drivers side. On the passengers side I removed the clip closest to the axle holding the locker wiring in place. Again this is YOU the installer responsibility take it serious.

Pictures of the results. Question please ask

PM me with the keyword "LCP" and receive FREE plans to build your own rock rails for under $100.

While the OP is fleecing people for rock rails, I am going to go back to doing real engineering on the 80 and 100 platforms and posting real tech for the benefit of others. Im sure he will bump this thread another thousand times in a geriatric/dementia induced fit of anger.

Edit: 5 people already! Enjoy your free plans folks

I was staring at my entire collection of tools last night and could not figure out how I could build rails for $100. I assume that your plans require me buying the material for $100. Or does that budget also include the purchase of the tools required? Also, I work a lot and have two young, active boys. My time also has a tremendous value. How do you account for that?

These are serious questions. I don't want to get "fleeced" so I look forward to more understanding before I decide to buy or not buy.

Time to address the battery set up.
The vehicle was equipped with a dual battery set up. One of the hoses that goes to the inner cooler went bad and someone replaced it with some couplings and hard pipe but the routed it over the center of the battery WTF?

IMG_6406.JPG

First was to relocate the turbo piping

IMG_9637.JPG

The 2nd battery tray needs to be reworked. With the rerouting a group 34 will fit and clear everything around it.

Not 100% sure what all this wiring went to but everything still works:meh:

There was no battery hold down at all for the main battery. Good thing we just started producing a quality battery hold down to fix the crappy set up from the factory. Available here ► Battery Bracket Upgrade - Land Cruiser Products - LCP
I have run the same set up for the last 7 years and it has been perfect without any issue. Part of the kit we sell addresses the fusible links. We provide a relocation feed to the back of the battery box to reduce the stress on the link by keeping them out of harms way and never need to be touched again even when the battery is removed.

New holes for the L rods in the box and ready for the battery installation. Noted t at the back of the battery box is the fusible link relocate.

The Hold down kit will work with 95% of the batteries up to group 31. I say 95% because recently it was pointed out our bracket will not work with an Odyssey PC1500:( Big thanks to @jonheld for working with use and providing information on the Odyssey. We are talking to the manufacture about optional brackets so cruiser owners like Jon with Odyssey batteries will be covered going forward. Below is the final set up pictured. Because of the design if we want to upgrade to a larger battery we are set up. The set up will also offer the needed space for the washer bottle. It is a tight fit but doable.

Do the plans come with a free welder and an instructor to show me how to weld? I looked into a Hobart 140 set up, but to get the gas and the bottles going, that is a $1000 item. And then if you're me, you have to figure out how to use it. Something tells me that just buying the ones Phil sells is a better deal unless you plan on doing a lot of other welding, which might be fun, but still a serious investment.

I do like the look of Phil's sliders and they would be perfect for my needs as I don't have a lot of real rock gardeny trails to drive on, but I want to keep my body looking good.

Protection is all in a perspective
This guy looks to have sliders that didnt seem to help in avoiding damage much at all. In this case Im thinking our rails would of had the same outcome at a much lower cost.:hillbilly:

In the end no one person opinion is right. Run what makes you comfortable for your intended use of your Land Cruiser

Damn. That is unfortunate for that white 80. What a shame. It looks like another example of someone trying to do buggy stuff in a heavy 80. The 80 is a tremendous platform but is a heavy wagon...not a buggy. I have never understood using it as “rock crawler”. I do enjoy the rocks and have a ton of experience in the desert. With that said, I have declined many trail rides on trails that don’t make sense for an 80.

To each their own I guess. We only have a limited amount of orbits in our lives. As long as people are making the most of those orbits, I will never tell them how to spend their money.

Looks like we may have a buyer:eek: Im the first to admit Im a sucker for a bag of Benjamins :D

T-case looked good no leaks
Rear looked fine no leaks
Front was a little dirty again with no leaks. I keep 10 quarts on the shelf so I changed it.

Plug showed normal mud for dirty oil. Not sure when it was changed last but it looked due.

Trucks ready lets see what tomorrow brings:)

Im sure whomever bought the turbo cruiser is going to love it, esp. With all the handy LCP mods on it.

I have many of these mods myself and like to support the small community of vendors that help us with our trucks like Kurt, Christo, LCP, and others.

Id say 99.9% of Landcruiser owners are some of the coolest folks around and we are always looking for "one more thing to do" to our Cruisers.

Phil, what have you done with the cats? You have the exhaust under frame of the 95-97, but I’m not seeing the low hanging fruit on the passenger side.
