Anyway, I hope you enjoy it, it a nice ride.

OMG you only have a mile on the FJ40!!!! Hahaha, welcome!

Yessir; and given it's lack of mileage, I'll sell it to ya for a steal at $25k. That's the cash price.

I think Autometer will set them with correct mileage for you...that is what we do with motorcycles with autometer speedos when we replace engines.

Ha, where were you two week ago? J/K, of course.... what kind of bikes do you work on?

Why did you move the locker to the front? It's really gonna be hard to steer offroad now. He's gonna make Mike look like Popeye.

Welcome to the club. Just hit my link in my sig. to join.

First priority was to get the rig great onroad. I have built a number of rigs (though this is my first Toyota) and through trial and error, have learned that my favorite combo is a lunchbox up from and an ARB in the rear. Value & performance... I don't imagine it will be that much tougher to steer on dirt in 4wd; probably still easier than slowspeed on pavement in 2wd.

Well, to each there own. And yes it will be MUCH harder to steer in 4wd with a front locker as opposed to being able to turn the locker off in tight turns when front traction is not absolutely nec.

Hope to see you out on the trails soon.

Oh, maybe I should mention that it has manual hubs. ;)

yep you can only lock one hub until you need the extra traction...and help with steering.

though I would still put ARB up front and leave the aussie in rear. That is what I did with fj60 and never really missed the front locker...but I was not crawling rocks either.

Making it so you enjoy it is most important...not what we would do ourselves. :)

Um, not the same thing. Watching that action on the trail will look like something from a Benny Hill skit. LMAO

Most definitely, what works for you is most important. I just prefer either a selectable up front, or PS.

If you recall my original post, my intention is #1 to make a strong streetable driver. An Aussie in the rear, in my opinion, is awful for street driving. Will I be taking this beauty offroad? Of course, but that is not it's primary purpose.

Of course I'd prefer most to have ARB in both front and rear; it would be great to have OBA as a nice side benefit. But sticking to my purpose, ie: a daily driver, I will need 4wd around here on the rarest of occasions. And when/if I do, using one hub will be fine, and if I do need both, hopping in and out will not be an issue....

So bringing it all back full circle, this is to be a daily driver, only really having the locker as an emergency tool.

You can also do a 2Lo mod to your tcase which is very easy and takes the front out of the picture while keeping you in Lo and you don't have to get in and out to lock your hubs. I have that on my Pig and it works great.

Interesting, I'll have to find out more on this...

do search in FJ60 forum or I can show you one day....two ways...one is to remove entire bracket...other is to notch it and bend out of way where you can put it back in place later.

Will do. If you want, I could run to your place, help you with yours, then do mine under your supervision. :hhmm:

Added another photo to my original introduction post, at the end. New Wet Okole Seat Covers. My wife loves em, and that gets me points.

That 2 Lo mod is real easy if the carpet is already out it can nearly all be performed from the transmisson hump area? Bit more difficult if pulled out from below but still easier than many other modifications.
