Welcome!
Were you ever involved with the Off Camber Crawlers? I was about a decade ago.
Wonder if we ever wheeled together?

I rode with them a few times, though I'm afraid I don't remember any names -- a couple of runs up in the Pennsylvania coal country and out to the Land Rover Proving Grounds in Maryland, before Rover North America closed them.

I had the 40 from around 1994 until 2002, so it's entirely possible we overlapped a bit!

Cheers,
BRAD

Hi Guys, new '85 Yota Owner

Hey guys, just bought my 1985 Toyota Pickup yesterday and I'm itchin to get it on the trails. I've been a long time Toyota owner and look forward to learning the ins and outs of my new rig. It's a mean daily driver that a weekend trail rig. Look forward to meeting up with you guys soon!

Going to mess around somewhere near Butcher Jones this Saturday around 9ish with a couple buddies to see what I'm working with...

If you can wait a bit we do this run annually - this will be the 4th year I think?

I will be going up a bit earlier with my kids after an Alaskan trip the second week in June to possibly pre run and check out the area as well for a night if you wanna tag along...

I may also be interested. I have a December Elk hunt in 22 North, and wouldn't mind scouting some trails.

mrhustle23, just my luck. I tore my bicep, and I'm on the down low for a couple of months. But please keep me posted. I'll be looking.Thank you for the offer.:bang:

Fleetside Bob here. Recently picked up my second LC, this one an 94. Previously had an 85 some years ago. Love to off-road and currently have a 2005 Rubicon. It's very capable but too nice to beat up and gets pretty poor mileage with a tiny tank. The LC already has some scratches and dings but is set up perfectly for 4-wheeling. It's got a huge Warn winch in an awesome ARB front bumper, ARB lockers, snorkle, a Powertank CO2 tank, etc. The only problem is the former owner replaced the Cat with a muffler and I'm going to have to figure out how to undo that move. Originally I think it had two Cats but the pipes have been merged into one just in front of the muffler. Oh well, nothing worthwhile is ever easy

Welcome Bob - can you post up a picture of your 80. We'd like to see it.

Try Mad Hatter muffler on 7th st / bethany home. They can probably fix you up reasonably.

Hello all

Hello all, I just introduced myself in a new thread in the other AZ forum but then stumbled in here and figured I'd do the same in this great thread. I live in the Ahwatukee area of Phoenix, AZ and I am definitely an offroading newbie. But, I'm getting closer to making my first modifications to a new Landcruiser (200 series) that the wife and I bought last year and I could certainly use some help.

I have a completely stock setup right now and I think that new tires (and possibly wheels) are in order as is a possible lift (2"?). I need a good AT tire since this vehicle will mostly be used for some commuting, family road trips and regular onroad use. But while I want it to still have a good onroad ride I want to make it offroad capable and begin using this rig as it was intended! I'm thinking about the Nitto Terra Grappler or maybe the BF Goodrich All Terrains but in any case, I know I'll have lots of questions about tire sizes, wheel fit, whether a lift will be needed or just nice to have, etc.

I would also appreciate if anyone could point me to some of the better local (Phoenix, East Valley) shops where I can begin educating myself on this stuff and slowly stepping into a modification path. I'm looking for an experienced, trustworthy shop where I wouldn't sweat turning over a $60K+ vehicle when the time comes.

Here's a pic of my baby in Flagstaff this past Winter. I'm really hoping to learn a lot here and begin my venture into offroading.

Wow....a 2-hundy; SAS and exocage in your near future? :grinpimp:

Not much has been done to 200s, so we may not have much input.:meh: You may be better off keeping that one purdy and finding an 80 to beat up.:hhmm: 80s don't need near as many mods. As for tires, the Nittos have been very good to me and they're much cheaper.

Oh, and welcome.:flipoff2:

^I disagree. I request you build that bad mofo up and then we wheel. Have you seen others that have been built? There's a 200 board 'round here with some nice ones.

Yeah, I've seen some things done and most seem to be "first of its kind" modifications since the 200 is relatively new. Saw a green 200 that Slee took pretty far down the mod path. At a minimum, I see some new wheels and Nitto Terra Grapplers in my near future with a possible lift to follow soon thereafter. I'll look at some of the bull bars out there although I've really only seen one from ARB. Again, I'm looking to slightly modify my LC but not really transform it. Just want to get it where it can go the places it should be able to.

Quick question - What kind of modifications would void the warranty? I'd assume wheels and tires are no problem but would lifting my 200 about 2" void the warranty? Thanks.

And yes, I've seen the 200 forum. It's great.
