Next week I will have finalized setting UC up with them. They are giving us dealer pricing.

All you need to do is tell them your with UC. They will have a member list to match your name.

I bought the big Red top Optima from them and ended up getting it for about $138. WHich was a good deal.

They also sell Interstate batteries. Very good batteries as well as an econo line.

Probably the best deal is with the Blems they sell. These are batteries someone has bought, installed and then returned it because the found the battery wasn't the issue. Usually they go for around $30. I have been using these batteries for all my vehicles for the past 15 years and they perform just as good as any brand new battery.

These guys are a distibutor for all the box stores in town but don't mind selling to us.

I'm also working on something with them for some donations for some events and they are a good start for a corporate relationship.

They are also about a mile from my house. So if you want me to pick up something I can and deliver it to an event.

Marshall, you're the man...I want to be like you when I grow up.

Marshall,

Which optima did you end up purchasing, I need to go out this week and get 2 Optima's for the 40. I purchased months ago the Luna dual battery kit and I need two batteries for it. What would anyone on here suggest for the 2 batteries. I have read the hundreds of threads regarding different brands and which are the best and I have pretty much decided to go with Optima just not sure which Optima. The plan is to run one Optima for starting only, the other will be for everything else (winch, lights, ect.) Thanks in advance. Brian

Either a yellow or blue top. I just bought the red for now but will probably go to the yellow as a second battery.

How do you like the quality of the NL system? I've looked at it a lot.

SO far everything looks great with the system, once I get it up and running I might be able to give you more feedback. I read a lot about it before purchasing and no one ever had anything bad to say. Plus I really like the company Equipt, I forget the owners name right now but he goes above and beyond for his customers. SO you would suggest a red top for starting and a yellow as your "everything else battery"?

Thanks I appreciate the help. Now I just need to figure out where to fit the second battery under the hood. Thanks again.

You sold that one you had for sale a while back didnt you? I dont know if I can even fit the 2 batteries next to eachother under the hood. I have a 1980 stock everything under the hood plus AC. I am going to get the batteries and see where I could squeeze them. Thanks.

OK just got back from the getting the red top and yellow top battery. I am reading through the National Luna dual battery set up and it is " highly" recommending that you run the winch to the main starting battery and have everything else running to the 2nd battery. Its reasoning is bc the main battery is 1st in line to the alternator. My 2nd battery is going to be the deep cycle yellow top and I would rather have the winch running to this one. Any thoughts from anyone regarding this?

Figures I was there yesterday getting our account finalized. Asked about the blem redtops and they said they had 6 but they were still checking them out. I went ahead and bought another new one for 147 out the door.

I've been hearing some bad things about optimas lately. Had a yellow top lined up for cheap and ended up passing on it. Any thoughts?

I am looking for one for the second battery install also. So what is going on with the Optima's?

I was told that the quality of Optimas had gone down over the past few years - this was from a guy who had never had an Optima - he heard it from someone else...so who knows. (and that guy was a tard so I don't give his 'insight' any credit) I have a Yellow Top that has worked well for me. I would buy another in a minute. I don't know of any other readily accessible deep cycle batteries. I'm sure there are some others somewhere...

Never had an issue.

I've heard people badmouth them. Never seen someone who actually had an issue with them.

Only alternative out there is Odyssey and I'm sure if I look hard enough I could find people who had issues with them.

I figured it was as much, I had a yellow top given to me a few years back and it was dead, but who knows what it had been through b/f it got to me.

When it comes time for the 2nd battery install I will research everything more. Thanks for the info.

I picked up a red and yellow top about a month ago and quizzed the owner of the store about Optima vs Odyssey. He had one Odyssey in the store and several Optima's. He said that he would special order the Odyssey if someone wanted it but would not warranty it like the optima because of years of problems from the Odyssey. WHo knows he could have a better mark up on the Optima but I went with a yellow and red and love them.

Just stopped by IB on Friday, looking to pick up a battery for my Saturn. But they checked it for me, told me it was in good shape, cleaned it up, and didn't charge me a dime. I know it's not much, but good customer service. Good addition to the support system for UC.
