My Cruiser PC is a Dell Notebook running Win2000 and IE vbersion 6.

They are both legal. I went to Bill's web and downloaded the most current patches for Win2000 and IE version6.

The problem.

I do any Google search and click on the web of my choosing. I am always redirected to some "other" web site. The type that is full of adds that sponsors get paid for. I click back and then am allowed to go to the web of my choice.

I purchase a spywaye from PC tools and ran it. It found some mild spyware that I eliminated. The problem persists.

Any suggestions?

Don't use IE! Download Mozilla Firefox it is free and 100 times better than IE (read no spywear or viruses)

Except there are still sights out there that do not recognize MF...so you have to use IE :crybaby:

check the settings on ie.

open ie

tools

internet options

advanced tab (last one to the right)

about 2/3 of the way down, you'll see Search from the address bar...

i have "Just display the results in the main window" selected. you may have "display results, and go to the most likely site" or "just go to the most likely site"

I agree you should dload mozilla firefox (its free)....use it for the 95% of the sites that it will work with, and use IE for the remaining 5%.

There is also an "IE Tabs" plug in for firefox, I use that for sites that require IE. IT allows you to open an IE window in firefox.
