I need some help here. My wife has an 02 LC w/18000mi. on it that has a very annoying, if intermittent ,squeak. It sounds like it is coming from the rear passenger side. At times you can get it to squeak by bouncing on the back bumper sometimes not. When it is in squeak mode it will squeak when you get in, when you are driving down the road, pretty much anywhere under any conditions. For the record it sounds like a old 30's pickup truck that has been sitting in someone's barn for 40 years, not very becoming of a $56K SUV. We have checked the shocks and they are all tight, and in good shape, we have lubed the suspension bushings to no avail. If it is the body mounts what size wrench is needed to tighten them? Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated. Our local Toy dealer won't really look at it because it has aftermarket shocks, which are an easy target, except it was making the noise before they were put on.

Thanks

Squeaks are hard ones, you need to get a "mate" (you might refere to them as aquaintances in the US) and get him to do the bouncing while you are under the truck moving around listening hard and trying to pinpoint the direction its coming from, or pull and lift the rear seats and get in there and do the same to find it.

My DS upper rear OME shock mount is very difficult to get enough torque on the mounting nut to keep it from squeeking; hence I have to crawl under there about once every other month to really torque it down...otherwise it squeeks when going over bumps...brutal on-trail with the windows down  I've never needed to touch the PS side...but the DS has a demon in it ;)

That was our intent the other day while it was on the lift having a fluid change, but of course we couldn't get it to squeak on cue. Next time it is squeaking I'll crawl underneath and have my wife bounce it(having 11 inches of ground clearance can be a real help at times)

That was my first thought because of where it sounded like itwas coming from, but during the aforementioned fluid change the tech went around and checked all the shocks and tightened them down. The front PS was rather loose, but the rest were pretty tight. When my wife left the garage it was fine, by the time I got in the next morning it was squeaking again:(.

What shocks and what shock bushings are you using? Urethane bushings are more squeek prone FWIW.

We are using Edelbrock IAS shocks all around and whatever bushing came with them.

First verified use of the Edelbrock IAS on MUD!

How do you like them ? How is ride quality compared to the OEM shock? Are they set for the stock height or a couple of inches higher?

I like them. I had them on my NBS 99 Sierra and liked them enough to put them on both the LC and on my 04 Tahoe. I think they ride better than the OEM. As for height I think they are stock on both vehicles.
