As of a few minutes ago my low beams have decided to intermittently work on my FJ Cruiser. I got in my FJ and did not have any low beams (it is pitch black outside). I checked fuses and connections and all looked good. Not wanting to blind other drivers during a 25 minute commute home from work I decided to have the wife come pick me up. I closed my hood and low and behold my right low beam now works which tells me I have a bad connection - but where? The plugs at the rear of both my lights are connected fine and not corroded. All fuses are good. I haven't messed with my lights besides to install a pair of Hella driving lights which connect to the driver's side light which is the one that the low beam won't work at all on. It worked fine though for at least a month. What gives? Is it time to replace my HID lights?

It is strange. I would think that both low beams would not go off at the same time but it could happen. Then closing the hood tells me it is a connection but the connection at the rear of the light seems OK..... :o

PS: I hate working on a truck in dress clothes.

Check the power to the plug. I have seen both bulbs blow at the same time, but not very often. Slamming the hood (or hitting the light) will sometimes make the filiment make contact and it will come on. But hit a bump and it goes out. Get a test light and check power first, sounds like just a loose conection or a bad ground

It is just my luck that both would go out at the same time. It sounds to me like a loose connection but I checked all my connections last night - that was the second thing I did after checking fuses. I'm going to throw in a new set of bulbs today @ work and hopefully that works. If it doesn't I'll at least have a spare set.

Check your battery connections also.

Battery connections are OK.

It's usually not that close together, but you can usually bet that if one goes the second isn't far behind. Most likely waiting for the most in-opportune time.
