I am planning to install some off road lights, and possibly a pair of switched lockers. I really do not want to cut into my dash. To the left of my steering wheel are unused switch spots from the factory. Does anyone know if a switch that is manufactured to fit exactly here--like as if Toyota made it ? It looks like I have 3 spots. Anyone have experience with this?

You can buy toyota switches. Many vehicles from the same era used the same size switches. I think Slee sells several different types. Downside is the connection is complicated cause you have to figure out what socket does what and they are expensive.

I used MCI tuning rocker switches from amazon, they fit with just a tiny bit of filing the factory cutout (like 1/16" or less removal). Mine are currently in the center console but I am contemplating moving them. I inadvertently turn my lights on regularly with them there.

Toyota switches fit just fine.

As for Locker switches, do you want to use a factory switch to run aftermarket lockers?
Here's the wiring diagram. It will trigger the dash lights (you have to load them in the sockets) and run the lockers in OEM order, Rear - Front.

As far as locker switches go, honestly, if I didn't have factory lockers, i'd prefer independent front and rear switches. Not that the need to lock the front and leave the rear free comes up often, but just on principal.

Edit: or principle... Spell checking has made me lazy.

That image is before I put ARB lockers in and trigger them off the factory Magic Dial.

hi ,

so ,....

- your 80 series black portion above LH of the steering wheel uses what i term as : Tall & Skinny Size Spec. type & style circa-era toyota switch's this would also classify the single horizonal vacant switch bay as well ....

- if i understand your above post's correctly ? , you plan 2 independent stand-alone Axle Lockers , and the Off Road Lights as well ,

- so you utilize the side by sides for the lockers , the LH one being for the Front Locker & the RH one being for the Rear locker , the factory-fit-form and function in me envisions Mr-T would have located the Rear Locker switch closest to operator / driver , the the front one further away from him / her .....

- there are many TOYOTA vehicle platforms globally were a primary devise 's or control 's where 2 are involved always subscribe to the very well thought out format

- the LHD & RHD final generation full-size single DIN analogue tuner pegs radio's are a solid example of this here below , both knobs are located on the side the steering wheel is located , closer to the driver ....

- that being said 2 identical vertical Rocker style or push-click-push-un-click types ,

- you obviously need a Active On illumination feature with these , but the Cat's Meow Meow here is to have a 2-bulbs switch where the additional
2nd bulb is for interior illumination feature upon clicking On your Parking lights and or head lamps also at night , seeing a switch you need to activate out of the corner of your eye while keeping both eyes on the road is a thingy that i will not live without ....

- ill post some motivational examples below , that should be in lock-step with a

"if i understand your above post's correctly ? , you plan 2 independent stand-alone Axle Lockers , and the Off Road Lights as well ," ---- Yes, maybe 2 for the OR lights. I like the dial-style for the front/rear lockers, so I might try to find that--which would go in the square.

I'd like to see those pics. Have you installed these switches? Where did you get them?

I pulled my factory open diff axles and plugged in some axles with factory E lockers. I used this harness:
The switches fit in those spots with a touch of filing. Worked great.

BAM

i am not sure how you would incorporate the dial-style for the front/rear lockers in your location photo you have posted ?

these are single tall and skinny size spec. OEM toyota individual switches you remove the 3 blanks / deletes you have available and install the switches

you may have a provision for a dial LOCKERS style switch else ware , in your center switch panel , or out of view in you tech photo ?

im sure someone more knowledgeable on 80 series dial switches will chime in if you have this as a delete currently or ,,,,,,,,,,?
