Hey guys,

I have a 6 tube LED kit that I used for footwell and trunk lighting in my 80. They have never been used outside the truck, but they were advertised as being outside compatible, so I'm pretty sure it'd be fine. They worked great and was very bright. I have since sold the 80. This kit was first installed by a local radio installer, who was rather incompetatant. I ended up cleaning up all his shotty wiring and getting it installed well. The wires attached to the main box have been cleaned up and reattached, but there are joints where I had to solder the wires, or use crimp connectors. There is a great fuse tap in connector attached to the positive end, and you can just attach the negative to any ground. These are super easy to mount. I just used small zip ties and they were solid for many months, and caused no permanent damage to anything. They are activated either by the main box, or by a remote, if you want a stealthier installation. The remote has a little wear on the paint, but it works great and I just put a new battery into it.

I used this kit mostly on the solid white setting, because it was a great, clean look in the interior, but it can do something like 25 colors (including a green that matches the interior lighting pretty well), and can go in 8 different patterns, come with sound activation, and at 5 different speeds/sensitivities.

Here are some pics.

Funny you mention those kits...I actually got them thinking they'd be great, but they turned out to be very dim, and did not have the versatility mine do. This was the top kit on the internet a few months ago, and I purchased it for over 100 dollars. I actually had those other lights on a vespa scooter of mine, and even in very dark night, the light was very dim. This kits is very bright, and uses the more conventional bulb type LED instead of the weak SMD board type that the others use. These are not flexible tubes, so they are able to pack as much power into these as possible given their size. Also, the kit you linked to does not feature an external remote, which was a bit deal for me as I went for the totally stealth look until you hit the remote.

Thanks... I was trying to get some additional technical info and stumbled on those...

Do you have a link or the docmentation for them (instructions)?
How long are the tubes?
Is there any provision for controling which tubes light up or controlling the intensity?
Is red one of the colors?

Okay here goes
-Just found the instruction sheet (somehow haha) it explains everything
-the tubes are 8 inches long
-The intensity can be varied, and the tubes have a bunch of different modes that are sequential. You can't choose which light up individually, but they don't all necessarily light the same. There is a trace function that will go between the two sets of 3 tubes and stuff like that. Also, the audio intensity can work with the tubes sequentially. It is a very cool kit.
-Of course red is one of the colors haha. It has just about every color you can imagine.

Here's a pic of the red
