Here's a little info I've gathered on the front differtial...The 8.7" high pinion front differential is a nice upgrade over the old 8" used in the 80 and 100 series front ends. The picture below shows the size difference of the ring gears.

Think the 8.7" is all new? So did I.... well it aint! As far as I can find Toyota first used a version of it on 93 - 96 Supra TT w/ 6 speed manual transmission. All other Supras received an 8" differential. Below is 8.7" Supra Torsen Type 1 next to a 200 series front 2 pin diff. The Torsen is oh so close to being a drop in, but the axles on it are 1mm bigger with an extra spline.

Any other pic requests, just ask.

Yeah, can you get a picture of a front locker for a supra? :grinpimp:

JK....but I really would like ARB to get the RD141 front locker over here!

Why are you playing with a front locker for a 200? You must have some plan up your sleeve...

:D

No serious plans yet, though I'll admit Torsen Type 1 diffs in combination with the A-Trac would make these vehicles go almost anywhere. They offset each other's weaknesses just about perfectly..... for the most part just finding out what is what. When I purchased the 200 series transfer case, I also bought the front differential from that vehicle. Evetually I'll install it in place of the Tundra diff, which has the ADD system for the 4WD, which is no longer required.

Torsen Lockers?

If I remember correctly, the Mega Cruiser had a Torsen limited slip/locker combo. Does anyone know what size diff that was? (old LC ~9.25?)

Ever since I heard about it, I thought that would be the perfect combo. I know Jeep used then in the rear D44 of the 1st generation of Rubicons. I believe that Dodge used then in the rear of the Power Wagon also, which is interesting since those were E lockers and Portal Tek now makes a lightweight, high clearance 10.5 14 bolt. PortalTek - Generation III Portal Box Ends

Anyway, that has been my 4x4 Holy Grail, a Torsen/Locker combo in all 3 diffs. I love full time 4x4, and that allows you to turn on slickrock and gives you something between all or nothing for slippery roads.

there are 2 10.5" 14 bolts. The GM version (the famous "14 bolt") and the late model dodge 10.5" which has 14 bolts, yet completely different.
