Right. So I have this HDJ-80 5 speed as a trail rig. Has had some engine work done on it,- replaced cylinder sleeve, BEBs, injector pump. Runs very cool, as there is a new radiator, hoses, water pump, thermostat and cap. With that said, should I intercool it? What are the advantages?

Generally speaking you only need to intercool if you are running a bigger turbo and more boost (stock turbo should be at 14psi MAX). You can intercool even a completely stock engine, it will keep EGTs down but not really worth the hassle.

I replaced the really minuscule stock intercooler on my FTE with a larger one, without touching turbo and fuel (yet). A big improvement was much reduced intake temperatures when bogged down in mud and working the engine. I guess it will be an even bigger difference none vs any intercooler.
