What insurance companies do people use to insure their Cruisers for actual cash value?

I use USAA for everything, but they will only insure based on book value, and obviously that doest equal the actual value of my vehicle.

Thanks!

Peters had his LV insured for collision. Never asked who he carried it through

I had usaa only and they covered it to a point but not near its worth if you drive it you need collision for the other car but you should get it appraised and go with usaa's classic insurance if you call them they will direct you to their subsidiary company. Is it worth the hassle of finding and paying for an appraiser... yES so you will end up with two policies on the truck

Ya Jason, I have all my insurance through USAA. I talked to their subsidiary, and they denied me coverage. They only insure perfectly restored vehicles that are basically driven to/from car shows. It needs to be garaged 100% of the time, and can never be used for camping/off road! That obviously doesn't work : )

I've also read about 'stated value' policies, but need to find someone who writes them.

I use American Modern Insurance Group on my FJ45. I did not need an appraiser. It is insured for stated value. A few guys I work with have classic & muscle cars and turned me on to this company.

I too use USAA and have my other classic insured by their subsidiary, but not my cruiser. I currently have it under USAA but Grundy's is way cheaper with "agreed" value as well. If you only use it as a weekend warrior, then Grundy's is the way to go. Unfortunately, I want to teach my son to drive it and the classic companies don't allow anyone under 21 to be on the insurance.

I'm going through this right now. USAA took the value of one in 1974 (something like $4k) and then did some kind of calculation. I think they came up with a value of $382 if I wreck it. They turned me on to American Collectors and I just had a go around with them because they took a look at the pictures and scoffed a bit at my valuation. I mean I know she's ugly, but she's mine. Original paint, 27000 original miles, not a bit of rust cancer. I'm waiting for her to call me back after talking with her supervisor but I have a feeling the way it's headed...

I'm going to take a look at American Modern Insurance Group.

Thanks,
Joel

I'm looking through USAA sent me to American Collectors. $256 for a year. I want $20k agreed value. Need to send them pictures. Going with their Freedom tier which allows for 7500 miles a year. After looking at Grundy's site you want agreed and not stated.

I have to send pictures in. I don't have the top and doors finished yet. Still need to recover the seat add a few more odds and ends. I might up the coverage once it's completely done.

Also look on ebay and there are some really nice 40s that could be had in that range.

I think it depends on how original it is . Maybe a V8 swap adds value but I wouldn't think so .

Not having any experience with 40s as of yet I'm not sure. But in the past it was normal to have the vehicle professionally appraised prior to insuring.

just insured the troopy with Hagerty today. $35,000 agreed value for $590/yr with full collision. I was paying $380 with no collision with my regular insurance co. so an extra $200 seems smart.

Update: I added my wife's 1972 Karmann Ghia on as well with full collision ($8k on hers) and the total for both cars combined was $610.

They do require you pay the full amount up front
