I'm going to give the adhesive metallic roll stuff from Home Depot a try... it's only $12-something for a roll. I'll have to post up when I'm done, but probably won't be for some time.
 
I used Lytherm carpet padding. Works great. Can't remember the actual name for it though. My only complaint is that it's not exactly water resistant though. Get it wet and it's gonna grow mold. I've already replaced the small section that covers the driver's floorboard a couple times.

I'm sure other companies make even better (and more rugged) sound/temp insulation nowadays.
 
I used a product built like this-foil exterior over a fabric padding-on my doors, and it worked very well. I'm not advocating for JC Witney as the place to buy, I found it at the local speed shop.

I cut patterns to fit the doors and spray glued it in place. So far, so good.
