Installing Transmission Shift Lever (1 Viewer)

How do I install the transmission shift lever on a stock FJ40 4-speed without having the special Toyota tool? I got the thing off somehow, but now I can't get it back on. Anyone know any tricks?

I know I've seen an explanation on how to do this somewhere before, but I can't find it. Maybe it was on the old Specter board.

channel-lock pliers...works every time....just press and turn, only leave minor teeth marks
