Install a manual fuel cut off valve in a steel fuel line?

Hi,

I am about to replace all my steel lines:

Brake 3/16 inch
Clutch 1/4 inch
Fuel 5/16 inch
Fuel return 1/4 inch

to a corrosion resistant material, probably Nicopp. But I want to install a manual (not electric with a relay) fuel shut off valve (ball valve) for anti theft purposes on the forward 5/16 inch fuel line.

I envision a ball valve of this type:

either in 1/8 or 1/4 size.

The fuel system consists of:

One short piece of rubber fuel tube from the tank. This rubber tube is connected to the beforementioned steel 5/16 inch line which travels most of the way underneath the car. Just before the fuel filter, the steel line is connected to a piece of rubber tube again.

Question:

What is the best way to install such a valve in between the fuel line? I am especially interested in what fittings I should use for this application. Flare fittings, compression fittings, metric fittings (I live in Europe). I am very much confused by all the fitting types, but ideally I would like to go with the flare fittings - if there are adaptors/fittings that fit into the ball valve. Any ideas?

Those types of valves are generally NPT thread and it's very easy to find NPT to 45 degree flare adapters which is a common adaptation in the US.

Personally, I would not bother with a mechanical fuel valve unless it's to aid in servicing the fuel system (which is almost never). You're adding five more places for leaks and adding some cost for a quality valve. A 5$ toggle switch is easier to use since it would not be under the truck. You could shut off one of MANY wires to prevent running.
