You do understand that what the Pin 7 mod allows you to do is engage 4-lo without locking the CDL (not sure that part's been specifically mentioned in this thread), otherwise without the mode, whenever you shift into 4-lo the CDL locks. Again, conditions where this might be handy, have been listed above.

there is a fair amount of confusion on this topic IIRC. Some folks talk about the no-CDL in low, while others talk about shift points. Me, I can never remember... (fortunately memory was first to go with advanced age... :D )
 
Shift points will stay factory providing you only do the 7-pin. IIRC, shift points are often brought up because prior to C-diggidy-dan's 7-pin mod people were unplugging the connection at the t-case to accomplish the same thing. However, unplugging the t-case did affect the shift points. So, the 7-pin allows you to shift the t-case to Low without the CDL engaging, nothing more, nothing less.
